Putin does have a shitload of nukes, pointed right at us, even though the rest of their military seems rather hapless and that their technology also seems rather hapless. Iran was working to get nukes and we have been actively stopping that from happening before it happens so that we don't have another Putin to worry about. We want to take our Iran BEFORE they are an "imminent" threat.

Actually, Iran has been rebuilding and working on nukes and ballistic missiles which could eventually reach the US. Waiting until they attacked us first or until they were an "imminent" threat would have made the job much harder and would have led to much more loss of life. We needed to take them out now before they reached that threat level. The fact that even Middle East countries want us to finish the job is proof of that.
