Socialism does not work, particularly in a society with as many diverse thoughts as we have in the US. Countries like Finland, that is often used as a model for leftists in the US, are very homogeneous. It is quite ironic that the left pushes diversity in the US which is exactly what will NOT work in the method of government they promote. Socialism and it's close cousin, Communism, require like minds(group think), which is exactly why children are indoctrinated from birth in Communist countries.

Practically all of the working class pays their taxes, and without them, you would have nothing. The working class creates everything in this world, through their labor and then when they earn a wage, they purchase what you sell them. They're the ones sustaining you. In reality, we all sustain each other.

You're in Lalaland. My brother-in-law just lost his job a few weeks ago after he had a gout flareup. His employer refused to give him more than three days of sick leave and he couldn't walk, hence he lost his job after working there since 2017. He didn't miss a day of work, for years, and now when he needs at least a week of sick leave, they throw him out like a used tampon. Healthcare coverage needs to be protected, as a human right. The right to unionize, and collectively bargain with one's employer.

The commons will take control of the means of production and people like you aren't going to be able to do anything about it.

Again, you just don't know what you are talking about. I have traveled enough to know that my standard of living in the US is far better than the overwhelming majority of the world. There are people in the US that live in large blue cities that make a lot of money, but whose standard of living is frankly horrible given their income. The US has reasonable taxes, plenty of space to spread out with much less restrictions that many other countries. I have no desire to live in a shoebox in a large Western European city with my laundry room in my kitchen. If that is your thing, then move there.

Your standard of living doesn't reflect the majority of working-class Americans. More, as I already pointed out with references, the American working class falls behind on everything from life expectancy, to access to healthcare..etc. In American socialism, you won't have to move out of your present home, into a "shoebox". Advanced automation and AI, is going to create a nation of extreme abundance, without the need for capitalism or markets.

Great point. Seems to me Capitalism is failing us. Since the late 70's union membership has declined from 35% of our work force to about 5% of our workers are now in unions. In that time when workers didn't have a seat at the table, our wages only went up 18% and CEO pay went up 1322%.

That tells me unregulated free market capitalism is failing the masses. But for Trump and Musk it's GREAT!
