I agree. I was not arguing it was transactional. When Israel fell to the Babylonians they didn't conclude their God was greater than theirs. They concluded that God wanted them to learn something.

If we were to ask what did Israel learn from the holocaust, I would start with that life is precious and not to be taken for granted. I would then follow that with they learned never again will they allow themselves to be put into that position. For all we know the holocaust prevented something much worse from happening because they learned from the holocaust. That is how great I believe God is.
