If the current iteration of the Republican Party had the capacity to be the only political party, and imprison anyone who was not a member of their party, they would do so. It the Republican Party had the ability to put Trump in the White House for life, they would do so. If anyone spoke out against authoritarianism, i.e. Trumpism, they would go the way of Alexei Navalny.

oh geez.....is your party perfect wry?....i was a democrat until about 97,thats when the democrats,for me anyway, started going just a little bit too left for me....and i was witnessing this living in S.Cal ....your problem is you see very little shit happening with the democrats.....but loads of it with the republicans....if you dont right your ship you may capsize....

Democracy, that is the people vote and elect every member of the Senate, the H. or Rep. and every Governor, member of State Legislatures, mayors and city/town councils and boards of supervisor. The claim that the United States is not a Democratic Republic is sophistry, at best, and metaphorically treason.

Grow up. Read the Preamble and the Declaration of Independence; both of these seminal documents are all but ignored by the Republican Party's Leadership and their fellow travelers.
