USSR
The most important event of the 20th century is
1.
The Great October Socialist Revolution ...
in Russia in 1917
-------------------------------------------------- ----------------------------------------
Why?
The answer is very simple:
The entire 20th century is a confrontation between "Capitalism" and "Socialism"
All the other "Scientific, Military, Cultural" discoveries are just the consequences of the Revolution in Russia ...

The following:
================================================== ========
2.
The defeat of Nazism in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945, when the Soviet people, having lost 27 million citizens, liberated Europe, destroyed Hitler, and also killed the "fascist ideology"

2.1. Victory in the Second World War 1939-1945 coalition: USSR, UK and America
(France included in this list by Stalin!)
-------------------------------------------------- -----------------------------------
3. The Americans invented the atomic bomb
This deepened the contradictions between the USSR and the US
-------------------------------------------------- -----------------------------------
4. Exit to Space
- The First Sputnik, which launched the USSR
- The First Person in Space, who was a citizen of the USSR
- The First Man on the Moon, who was a US citizen

The Russian Revolution was a grand experiment

It failed

The most important event in the 1900's was probably the defeat of Hitler.

The next most important was probably the fall of the USSR.

Thus 2 totalitarian states have fallen.

China and N.Korea remain as totalitarian states unfortunately.

Going back to the 1700's the most important was the founding of the USA. This was the beginning of a democratic movement across the entire planet.

Going back to the 1600's the most important was probably Peter The Great becoming Tzar of Russia.

Going back to the 1500's, the most important was the English defeat of the Spanish Armada.

Fortunately, the idea of Communism was preserved in China ..
The USSR lost ... Unfortunately ...
=============================================

And what is "Communism"?
I'm interested to hear how the Americans think ...

By the way ...
I'm not a Communist, but I know Marxism ...

The formulations of Albert Einstein. They changed the modern world in some of the most profound ways.
Einstein was a German Jew ...
I do not understand why such a beautiful girl from Norway argues about Einstein ?????

Let's get acquainted and we'll kiss ...

I don't go that far with an acquaintance. Maybe we can hold hands, though.

Pearl Harbor-1941--forcing the US into WW2 which started:
-- the greatest destruction and re-construction--ever...of not only cities--but also countries--politically and independece
--the rockets FOR the space program
--the hurried-advances-development of:
.....manufacturing/radar/farming--food storage/food preservation/flight/jets/technology/science/etc
--many wars between communism/socialism/etc
it still shapes our lives and the world

WW2 shape the world-
the Korean and Vietnam wars were shaped by WW2

WW2 was the impetus for scientific and military discovery---how do you figure otherwise??!!??

The most important event of the 20th century occurred on December 23, 1947 when Bell Labs successfully demonstrated the operation of the transistor, enabling the human race to advance from the Iron Age to the Silicon Age.
