It had been left to run down, and it was seriously in need of renovation.

When I graduated high school I had the honor of visiting both sites on our senior class trip to Washington , D. C. I saved a whole year to.be able to go on that trip and felt honored and humbled to enter those historic buildings. This is not just a simple crime , it is a crime against all Americans.

What part of this is part of the history of the WH don't you understand. The WH is NOTHING like the original structure--thank goodness. We'd be sending smoke signals from the roof. The west wing and that oval office that you reference weren't constructed until the 20th century and the east wing that you're having a cow over wasn't constructed until 1942---historical? I mean I kind of half agreed with the people who oppose taking down a piece of History... Although from what I've been reading it's been known for some time that the White House needed some type of high capacity, official reception room and really did not have one.

Aside from the fact that I disagree vehemently with Trump on his interior decoration choices it's probably a pretty good idea.
