If you wondered if your OTF knife would collapse if it came time to stab someone, they can hold up fine once they lock up. Now, there may be some cheap models that don't hold up. I bought a $12 OTF in Tiajuana about 50 years ago that didn't hold up. Once deployed the blade would collapse if you tried to stab anything with it, even lightly. But it looks like the current designs are very secure. Video shows a gal hammering a cheap OTF through wood.

The nice thing about an OTF knife compared to a large side opening auto knife; is the OTF blade won't foul on you coat sleeve or pants leg when deployed. I've had problems in both areas with auto knives. The negative with OTF knives is maintenance. If they get dirty, they may have deployment Issues.

For SHTFF getting a part serrated blade is very important. There are many things you will try to cut with a non-serrated blade that the knife just won't cut. Nylon zip ties are just one example that the serrated blade will cut, and the non-serrated blade won't cut. When it comes to the point choice, the tanto point is a great stabber if you ever need it for that purpose.
