Dig this.
40% of America's imports come in thru the L.A. and Long Beach ports. 60+ freighters are backed up and growing.
For every truck you see hauling out an already offloaded container, 500 other offloaded containers are sitting to be hauled out. Truck drivers are sorely needed!
It looks like there are going to be alot of spoiled crying tykes this Christmas!

Beyond this, what is ex-mayor of Bumfuck, Indiana, Pete Buttigieg, now Sec. Of Transportation, doing to address this?!?!

YOu mean if you pay people MORE MONEY to stay home rather than work….THEY WILL STAY HOME?!!

NO WAY!!

I find it amazing that you fools believe that working and poor people will stay home unless they're forced back to work. It's such a fucking lie. But if you give the rich money, they'll create good paying jobs.

What is happening is that people can't afford to go back to work without child care, or health care, or a living wage. You have no national child care program, or even a strategy for working mothers. People will go back to work when Biden's Build Back Better infrastructure goes into effect.

It looks like Pete, just like the rest of the Bi-Dung Administration, is in over his head!

The bill will never pass with all the Communist goodies in there. Only 9% of that bill is allocated to actual infrastructure such as roads, bridges and airports. You don't have this kind of labor shortage because of women with children. Before the plague, women found places for their children all the time. It's just more commie crap to create more government dependency and spending. It has nothing to do with child care. And how much healthcare do you get sitting home?

Tell that you yoir ILK because I know plenty of people who would call a mandatory tax to fund a government program like disability, socialism. They would say they should keep the money they earn and have to choice to spend it how they see fit. Do you agree with that or no?

You asked me what I think and I told you. Why bring up what other people think?

This is a thread on unemployment. You don't get unemployment unless you worked and paid into it.

Correct, that's why I would never call it a socialist program. Your employer has to pay for unemployment insurance on your behalf. It indirectly is paid by you, but like other benefits, it's something many never really see. So yes, you are paying for it just like you pay for your house, apartment or car insurance.

you seem to have the definition of socialism confused with welfare. Welfare is definitely an element of socialism but programs like social security, Medicare, and disability are also socialist and the largest contributors to our nations spending. You think it’s a good idea to keep these programs but would prefer to have them state run…. Is that correct?

Gee it’s a mystery why we didn’t do better at slowing the spread. Dumbasses
No, dumbass. Fearful uninformed morons like you caused the problems by overreacting to any little thing. LOCKDOWN, LOCKDOWN, LOCKDOWN! As we told you that was a garbage “solution”. Extending the problem and causing other issues. Continue hiding under your bed. Sane people will live their lives normally.

Supply chain problems = transportation problems.
Buttigieg and his 'wife' have new twins at home! You'd think Pete would apply himself to find solutions to the transportation problems. :dunno:

So how is people getting more of their money back a bad thing?

So...here's a thought.

We need restaurants to become fully staffed. But nobody wants to work for those wages.
What if we went back to 1970's rules and no longer taxed gratuity income?
It would instantly give restaurant owners the ability to pay the rest of the staff more PLUS give all wait-staff an instant 25% raise in pay at least. Thereby making the jobs more desirable and the loss of tax revenue to the Federal Government negligible.

Just saying....it would work. And work well.

Restaurants need supplies. So, how about we address the supply problems before the restaurants?
Afterall, 1st things first.

Wasn’t too tough for me to hide under my bed for a month and not catch Covid. Sorry it was too hard a task for all who couldnt or wouldn’t do something that is so simple.

Was really easy for me to live my life, continue to work, and do everything I wanted while laughing at cowards like you. Like most people I know did. No Covid here.

Actually restaurants are more efficient with food than households. I can feed more people with less food at a restaurant than most people can feed themselves with. Just part and parcel of being a professional.

Supplies are contracted for large chains... McDonald's buys lean beef contracts on the stock market commodity exchange. Doing the same for grain and tomatoes and potatoes and chicken and etc.

Smaller independent restaurants depend on local packing houses and produce markets. Usually restaurant supply warehouses actually do the logistics for large chain restaurants.
