There has been a load of harrumphing and indignation from the left over something Donald Trump said a few days ago when he said that he would not run to the aid of countries who did not meet their financial obligation to NATO.​

And one of the presidents of a big country stood up and said, well, sir, if we don’t pay and we’re attacked by Russia, will you protect us? I said, you didn’t pay. You’re delinquent. He said, yes, let’s say that happened. No, I would not protect you. In fact, I would encourage them to do whatever the hell they want. You got to pay. You got to pay your bills.

In actuality Trump is correct.
For decades the majority of NATO countries have failed to meet their commitments to donate 2% of their GDP to their mutual defense.
So despite the threat from Pitin and the war in the Ukraine 13 countries which include Germany, the Netherlands etc., have not met their commitments.
IMHO that is much too high a price to pay for the fiction of a NATO alliance of equally contributing partners that is in reality a NATO reliance on one with the fat guy doing all the substantial rowing in defending continental Europe that has more population and GDP in the aggregate than the US. Maybe a little tough love is in order requiring them to form their own joint standing army and alliance for their defense with a separate Five Eyes alliance, which does not face the same territorial threats as continental Europe, that operates independently and has no hard baked in mutual commitments to a continent reluctant to defend itself.
Meanwhile, our 46th president, Democrat Neo-Marxist CPUSA and biased media continue to dither and are incapable of taking to task the supposed partners of NATO who have failed and depend on America and the Five eyes for their defense.
