The Left Often Say We Should Be More Like France

Of course reject the woke mentality.

Problem is....France is not what it used to be anymore.

That France is gone....too sad too awfully bad....oh well....

Years ago I was on a dart league for our bar. One of our opponents from another bar were British. I told them how much I would love to visit their country if I had the chance. They told me don't waste my time. It's no longer like it's played out in Hollywood. It's changed dramatically and I'd be disappointed. It's why they became citizens of the US.

A former coworker of mine moved to the US from Germany when he was 12. Then retired, I asked him if he'd ever move back? He told me never. Germany today is not the Germany he grew up in.

Americans are free to move to these other countries and have their socialist utopia to try it out for a while. If they find it wasn't all what it was cracked up to be, they could always move back to the good ole USA. But once they change this place into another socialist shithole and find out it was a bad deal, there won't be a USA to move back to. It will be gone forever. The USA is one of a kind. It's why the border patrol reports that people are trying to sneak in from over 110 different countries.

Unlike the French we spend bookoo trillions on wars and lose our soldiers in many ways. However, like the French we now lose the wars. At least since WW 2.
The allied forces collectively won the World wars. It has been dubbed "National Narcissism" when one nation believes they won the World wars. In past readings on this subject, it has also been dubbed "Excessive Patriotism".

It reminds me of -

My great great great great grandparents said, "What's this country coming to"

My great great great grandparents said, "What's this country coming to"

My great great grandparents said, "What's this country coming to"

My great grandparents said, "What's this country coming to"

My grandparents said, "What's this country coming to"

My parents said, "What's this country coming to"

We're telling our kids, "What's this country coming to"

Unfortunately it's called progress, and as society changes, the previous generation often don't like it. Not all progress is good, but that is human life for you.

any quotes from "the left"?

The moment they referred to the Biden government as a "woke dictatorship", I stopped reading.

Who says the USA should be more like France??? No one ever!!! France is the hot mess of Europe. Social unrest at the drop of a hat. Rising white supremacist movement.

I can think of some things I'd love to see changed here and more closely resemble a European nation. The appreciation of arts for one thing; health care systems, and a few other things.

I'd just like to see who has said it and see what they are talking about.

Why would you ask someone who left Britain if they'd go back? If their life there had been a good life, they would never have left in the first place. Nobody moves to another country because they're happy where they are.

Your description of the rest of the first world as "socialist shitholes" is laughable. How may countries have you been to Ray? My guess is not very many. The USA continues to slide down the rankings in the list of "best places to live". You used to be in the top 10, but you'll having a hard time staying the in the top 20 right now. All of those "shithole socialist countries" are passing you.

Notice how you don't have to build a wall on the border with Canada to keep Canadians from "sneaking in".

And in the last 20 years, have be become more socialist or less? Our decline is more and more government controlling our lives.

People move here for all kinds of reasons. If their job or profession didn't bring them here, their children's profession did and the parents followed to be near them.

The father of a late friend of mine was a Polish immigrant. He moved here, got a job at the auto plant, retired with a nice pension, and moved back to Poland. Why? Because according to him, you can live like a king in Poland with the money he got from his pension and Social Security. He was actually considered rich by some of his family and neighbors.

As a patient at the world famous Cleveland Clinic, I can tell you that if you go to their main campus downtown, it's the Americans who feel like foreigners. After new doctors get their education and experience here, they decide to stay instead of moving back home. These socialist countries don't pay their doctors shit compared to ours. It's one of the reasons we have the best providers from around the world.

But France says, "No thank you" to "America's woke ideology."

Some excerpts from the article:

One of France's leading magazines, Le Spectacle Du Monde, ran a cover story titled "The Suicide of America." The magazine blamed America's retreat from Afghanistan on "a woke dictatorship" and questioned whether the American "empire was collapsing."

In the same issue, an article faulted U.S. universities as islands of extremism, where even students' Halloween costumes are policed, citing Yale University as a place where "offensive" costume-wearers were punished.

A few miles from where U.S. soldiers landed on the beaches of Normandy, a conference of leading politicians, journalists and intellectuals devoted a panel to "America's woke ideology." Some panelists seemed alarmed by the trends they saw in American society, including alleged "woke" censorship by Twitter, Facebook and other U.S. tech giants.

the panel was full of criticism about the perceived decline of free speech in America.

In an interview with Elle magazine earlier this summer, President Macron said American-imported "woke culture" is "racializing" France and creating more division among minorities.

Macron's anti-woke sentiment is widely shared in his government, even by the delegate minister for gender equality and diversity, Elisabeth Moreno, a Black woman born in Cape Verde, off the coast of western Africa. In a televised interview with Bloomberg, she praised the increased awareness on social issues, but rejected cancel culture because it can "kick out people from ongoing debates because they think otherwise."

"The two most toxic ideologies of the 20th century were Nazism and Marxism. In my opinion, Nazism was identity politics on steroids, and Marxism was an oppressor narrative on steroids. The combination of the two is actually modern wokeism that was born in the United States," said Vivek Ramaswamy, author of Woke Inc.
Gee, I thought it was the Scandinavian countries. The Liberals just can't seem to figure out who we should be like instead of Americans.

That said, it looks like the article was dead on right.

Why do you want inferior health care?

Switzerland is a well governed country. Ditto the Netherlands.

Much, much less socialist. The union movement has been destroyed. Public sector unions are about all that's left. Your violent crime rate goes up every time you loosen restrictions on gun ownership. Welfare benefits are capped. You have the weakest labour laws in the first world.

Your tax code has the middle class subsidizing low wages to the working poor. The USA is a corporatist, state, not a socialist state and the bulk of your income and wealth goes to the top 10%. They own 80% of the wealth of the nation. It's 50% in Norway. 40% in Canada. Which is why both nations have a growing middle class, while your middle class is shrinking.

Government has always controlled your life. Much more so than any of the countries you call "socialist". You were subject to the draft until 1972. You're the only country in the first world with a shrinking middle class and a declining life expectancy. The USA is much lower on the personal freedom index that nearly any other First W

You keep talking about all of the money people can make in the USA. But it's meaningless to say you can live like a king on SS in Poland, because you can't live on Social Security in the USA. Unless you're planning on shipping your elder to Third World Countries.

You don't have the best medical providers in the world. You have the most expensive medical care in the world, but it wasn't much good during covid or you wouldn't have lost over a million people, and you're life expectancy wouldn't have been declining for the past 7 years.

Everything Republicans tell you about the rest of the world, is a lie. The Republican Party has completely screwed over working Americans and the middle class, for corporations and billionaires.

France had a chance to elect a common sense candidate in LePen. LePen got only 40% of the vote. Macron, the liberal candidate, won by nearly 20%. France is a lost cause.

We've known that France was lost, before most of us were even born, when they let Hitler's troops march right into Paris and take over.

it’s a hard tough wake up call from France. The xiden admin has the united states looking like the laughing stock of the world

Not really hard to imagine at all. Look at statistics where young people are indoctrinated into believing in Socialism and hating Capitalism.
That's because most capitalist, beg and receive government handouts.
While championing "capitalism".
More and more are becoming atheists and religions are losing members all the time.
That's because the bad actors of religion, are in it for power and $$$.
Most pastors are POS.
As bad as things are in Chicago, they say polls are favoring the reelection of the worst Mayor in our country, Lori Lighthead.
