There have been many turning points in world history making the perspectives of "before' obsolete and unusable.

But none like world war 2.
World War 2 is by far the largest, and most decisive of all the world's turning points in world history, bar none, as well as the quickest in duration.

The permanent technological changes are surely decisive and permanent.
No more are dreadnoughts the king of battle amongst the largest superpowers and the winners of WW2, aircraft carriers are.

No more are propeller planes the front line fighters, today jets are. etc etc etc...

There are also vast social changes.

No more is the far right wing socially acceptable.
No more is the Swastika a symbol of good, and even if India can claim that thers is... the propaganda professed by skinheads and other hate outfits for the german Nazi model swastika as well as what is behind it, is bullshit, and not accepted.

Its also socially appropriate for the people india to fucking drop it, when they move to countries abroad.

No more does the west practice the death penalty (except for the USA)

No more is hate crimes "self defense".

No more is Nationalism to be left unquestioned as far as motive, and even a good solid motive is subject to take it or leave it and both on equally high footing.

No more is Inequalities to be left Unchallenged.

No more is the Dismal failure and completely useless and ineffective quackery that is Psychoanalysis an acceptable method of treating those with problems.

No more is the wealthy considered "decent hard working people" just on the basis of their wealth alone.

The cold war that is the result of the conclusion of world war 2 is a changing point too, but to a FAR lesser degree.

Basically... No more is communism a system to be looked up to, or sought out as a solution to economic problems, due to the lack of freedom in it, the fact that it causes extreme poverty, and the low quality crap that nobody with a choice wants.

And when I say communism... I mean communism.

A polit bureau, a dictator, a man worshiped as god by forced followers... state allocated resources as a primary means of life in society.

Nothing at all like what the American repukes call "communism".

So when are dickheads going to learn this ?
Seriously, I mean really.

When ?

Actually, I would stretch that period to go from 1914 to 1945. In those 31 years, we saw the death of the feudal monarchies in Europe and Asia. We saw the rise and fall of Communism. We saw the worldwide failure of unregulated capitalism. And we saw the rise of education among the masses. And the development of science from an arcane system of logic practised by a few, to the present vast structure of millions of scientists that represent every country and culture on earth. We developed medicines that have effectiviely doubled the average lifespan. We nearly eradicated childhood killer diseases in the nations where there are national programs of early childhood vacination. And our industries have added enough GHGs to the atmosphere that we are starting to see the effects, and have good reason to worry what the ultimate effects will be in both the near and distant future.
