That the Ayatollah had reached out to the West - was never a secret - only in the USA, since they (Carter) wanted everyone to believe about his "wickedness" and supposed anti-American agenda. Another TOTAL bullshit story

TACO subsequently cut a deal directly with the Taliban, that freed 5,000 imprisoned fighters, allowing them to return to the battlefield to regain strength, and put the Taliban in its strongest military position in 20 years.

SOP for that one. The greatest military in the world planned and executed the final evacuation. President Biden gave the Generals everything they asked for. The 5 to 1 prisoner swap was in the Doha accords and was one of the only conditions placed on the Taliban that they actually complied with. They complied because it was a great advantage for them. 5 to 1. Recall Benedict Donald ordered US troops strength to be lowered to 2,500 troops days before Biden took office, half the number of the Taliban fighters he forced our Afghan allies to release back to the battlefield.
