RUSH: David French at National Review had a fascinating post on The Corner last night. That's their blog. "The Hidden Reason Why Americans Dislike Islam." I saw that headline and I said: Wow. What is this? "Yesterday, YouGov and the Huffington Post released a poll showing that large majorities of Americans -- and pluralities across every political demographic -- have an 'unfavorable opinion' of the Islamic faith. The numbers are simply not close." Again, it's a combo poll. YouGov and the Huffing and Puffington Post.
Here's the question: "Do you have a favorable or unfavorable opinion of the Islamic religion?" Democrat: 45% unfavorable, 27% favorable. Independent: 58% unfavorable, 15% favorable. Republicans: 75% unfavorable, 11% favorable. The total combined of all three, 58% unfavorable, 17% favorable. Again the question: "Do you have a favorable or unfavorable opinion of the Islamic religion?" So Mr. French saw the numbers and evolved a theory. One of the theories is we have "tens of thousands of soldiers" who have been deployed since 2003...
Well, actually before that. I mean, three for decades. We've had maybe two million soldiers deployed in the Middle East who have seen this religion up close and personal. David French was one of them, the author of the piece at National Review. He admits here that when people see this poll from YouGov and the Huffing and Puffington Post -- and, by the way, the Huffing and Puffington Post is not in any stretch of the imagination a conservative poll. Neither, for that matter, is YouGov.
He says, ""There will be no doubt some hand-wringing about 'Islamophobia' and further calls to continue the American elite’s fourteen-year track record of whitewashing Islamic beliefs and culture..." And, by the way, that's exactly right. That is exactly the way to put it: A whitewash of what Islam is, "whitewashing Islamic beliefs and culture." That's what this administration's been engaged in, and the media. It's a total whitewash so that all of this terrorism is just one-off outlier type stuff. It's not normal; it is not representative.
That's what they whitewash. That's what they try to tell us, and the American people are not buying it. The media has failed. Obama has failed. The Democrat Party has failed in their propaganda effort here. Anyway, Mr. French's point is with two million soldiers having been deployed and then returned home, and having told stories to people about what they've seen, his point is that there are eyewitnesses. There are people who have been amongst believers of this religion in their home countries for years and years and years and years.
And they've seen it up close and personal. And they've come back and they have told friends and family and so forth what they've seen and what they heard, and the stories have grown exponentially. And therefore these opinions on the favorability or unfavorability of the Islamic religion may have deep roots in eyewitness accounts, not just what the media wants to chalk up as bigotry and bias and prejudice. And it is an interesting point.

It's not bigotry or hatred to learn the facts about Islam, and come to the realistic conclusion that Islam is an evil religion, which preaches hatred and violence against anyone who is not Muslim.
