Zone1 The Great Difficulty Of Being Religious.....

I object to religion on all grounds: metaphysics, epistemology and ethics. It is a philosophy of misery and suffering. Anti-man, anti-life and anti-florishing.

Neglecting your mind to submit the whims of faith will never brimg happimess. Look at Europe during the Dark Ages or at Afghanistan today which is a country taking Abraham seriously.

I do not have relationships with that which does not exist. I am not delulu. Are you?
Clearly you have never heard of the happiness advantage and how one can train their mind to be in a happy state by doing all the little things Christians are taught to do. It turns on all the learning centers of the brain and significantly improves performance relative to negative, neutral or stressed states.

I see it more as people of truth and who pursue goodness versus deceivers and those who do evil. Many atheists are very good people who abide in truth as well as any person of faith.
When push comes to shove, they will side with unbelievers.

Christians are generally happier than unbelievers. :)

Remember when we agreed
Nope. That never happened. But I do remember you trying to say we have agreed many times. If I ever agreed with you on anything I would have to rethink my position.

No, Christians are the worst because they try so hard to show everybody how "happy" they are with fake smiles, overpoliteness not to be polite, but rather as a way of claiming superiority and showing off a facade of a happy family, but behind closed doors, wife and children are being beat up.

Chrstians believe life is suffering and that real joy comes after death or in "afterlife" as they call it. With these premises one can never be truly happy.
Happiness is fleeting, contentment is the operative term for Christians.

The great difficulty in being religious is believing in a myth.
Actually the great difficulty in being religious is dying to self. It's extremely powerful but hard to do. I suspect the only way that will ever happen for you is to hit rock bottom.

All the opposing accounts concerning Jesus can be covered by reality's rebuttals. Nothing stands but faith in bibles that are not even claimed to be true anymore.

The jesus stories are about as true as Jonah's big fish that he lived in!

You have an escape clause from literal beliefs. you've used it many times in our discussions!
There are no opposing accounts, dummy. Feel free to link to them.

The first Christians who witnessed the supernatural acts performed by Jesus - which included controlling matter, controlling nature, healing physical deformities, healing diseases, raising the dead and resurrecting himself from death - worshiped Jesus as God because they witnessed those miracles. Non-Christian historians recorded that the first Christians worshiped Jesus as God because he performed supernatural feats. 24,000 written manuscripts documented the supernatural feats Jesus performed and the first Christians witnessed. The Babylonian Talmud confirms Jewish religious leaders put Jesus to death for sorcery and for leading Israel into apostasy. There are no opposing accounts that document that Jesus did not perform any supernatural acts. There are no opposing accounts that argue Jesus wasn't put to death for performing sorcery and inciting Israel to apostasy. There are no opposing accounts which document Jesus wasn't resurrected. There are no opposing accounts that the first Christians didn't witness Jesus performing supernatural acts. There are no opposing accounts that document the first Christians didn't worship Jesus as God.

I don't know why atheists come here. Maybe the Devil sent them. :dev3:
They come here to confirm their biases and to puff up their ego by pretending to be superior without ever realizing all they are doing is exposing their ignorance, poor character and their general dissatisfaction with the world.

I can't allow you to share 'literally true' belief in the bible with Woodnuts now, after all the confessions you made on accepting allegory in the bibles.

You yourself proposed that we can accept parts of the bible to be allegorical tales! We need to get started separating the wheat from the god chaff being proposed by Woodnuts.

Faith is by definition to neglect of reason, logic and sense perception to just float around with eyes closed letting your preachers and your emotions guide you.
Incorrect. Faith is having complete trust in something or someone. I never put complete trust in something or someone without good reason. I find your arguments to be illogical, emotional and completely lacking in objectivity.

There are all sorts of literary devices in the Bible. No one is denying that.

So, no diffetent from my definition then.

If I wasn't so used to all the times you have butchered what I have said, it would be funnier.

I think you've already rethought your belief positions and now you're trying to pretend you've always been a literal believer.

I respectfully sayeth unto you that I can't allow you to share Woodnuts' literal belief in the bibles. You! You who hath introduced allegorical beliefs unto this board?

Ah yes. The first two things I think of when I hear the word "Christian" are definitely humor and curiousity. Not. Morelike boring and closed-mimded. Weeeeell... Nevermind. Lmao. :D The Devil tempted you.
Spoken like a person with a closed mind. I don't judge people based upon labels. I judge what people say and do.
