Yeah. I agree. I campaign regularly for ranked choice voting and multi-seat districts. It gets rid of gerrymandering AND the lesser-of-two-evils nonsense. Republicans and Democrats are joining force to squash this.

We had a ballot initiative for just such a system in Colorado. It was polling well (60-70% support) a few months before the vote, but the DNC caught wind of it and went apeshit with attack ads and fear mongering. They won. Of course.
Looks like we mostly agree on this. Now if you could just stop cnp'ing socialist propaganda, we'd get along hunky dory.

Here is a weird one for America...
Say in Ireland, all the social choices are enshrined by the constitution but the constitution is a simple voting majority... So Abortion, Divorce, Death Penalty, Children Rights... are all governed by simple votes...
Ireland has one of the longest and most restrictive Constitutions in First World... There is very little interpretation for the Irish Supreme Courts, no real room to wiggle.
But the big difference is that Ireland has changed its constitution 37 times since 1970, the last time US allowed a constitution amendment.
The Irish President said the Irish Constitution is a living Constitution that changes and adapts with the people and their changing views. US hasn't changed its constitution in 56 years (1992 was ratified years before), that is over 22% life of the country while the country is changing fast...
The reason the Irish do this, is to not have politicians social views as part of their jobs... Seriously, in Ireland, you generally don't know most politicians views on Abortion or Religion, it is not their job, you are there to run the country)i.e. Roads, Education, Health, Policing...). It would be like bringing up Abortion in a business meeting at work... Kind of, 'not the place man'...
