When I said I can refute anything I meant thru the Bible and not the Church.

I don't know my church's opinion on the manner and don't really care. I think the Catholic Church is wrong on a lot of things...just like my mom was when she raised me. But I love them both. It should be noted I was the black sheep of the family and of her 5 children and was the only one ever physical discipline.

All I do is try and follow the path Jesus blazed as best I can.

My advice, something I rarely give regarding fellow posters: Ignore Donald H. He apparently believes all Catholic homilies and teachings are about evolution and how the Bible lies. He finds it impossible to accept that the Catholic Church cannot care less what people believe about evolution/creation as long as they see also God's hand in that belief. He believes that any figurative language in scripture is a lie. He will insist ding , a Catholic, believes the same, and of course ding does not.

I wasted weeks on Donald explaining actual Church teaching many times, but it's so true that none are so deaf as those who will not hear.

And no, Donald, I will not respond to anything you say regarding this post, so have the final word and continue on yammering on and on about the Church teaching Darwinism and figurative speech, stories being lies. Yawn.

...that faithful followers of Christ rely on the scriptures for doctrine whereas Catholicism does not and creates its own doctrines, even if they contradict what Christ taught.

As well, faithful followers of Christ believe that his crucifixion paid our debt and that if we put our faith and trust in him and obey his commandments, we will go to Heaven when we die. Catholicism, however, teaches that even a faithful follower of Christ is going straight to Hell unless they are an active member of the Catholic Church. That's a heresy, of course.

I can write a book about all of the heretical teachings of the Catholic Church but I consider the above to be the biggest differences between faithful followers of Christ and Catholicism.

Yes, they are!

You likely already know this, but I think it's still important to say....merely belonging to a church — ANY church, whether it's the Catholic church, the Methodist church, the Baptist church or whatever — does not automatically make someone a follower of Christ.

Spiritual birth is necessary. (John 3:3, John 3:7, Titus 3:5, etc) If that never happens, then someone is still in their natural state, even if they believe in God and go to church on Sundays.
