1. People want their president to be smart and competent, not stupid and senile.
2. The only way to see which candidate is smart and competent is to see them debate and answer tough questions.
3. Trump's pitch is to end Biden's war on energy, to lower gas prices, lower the cost of shipping, and to close the border and deport millions of "illegal" mouths to feed lowering the cost of groceries.
4. Not to mention deporting the 100,000 Chinese, 50,000 Russians, and thousands of criminals and terrorists that Biden's open borders let into the US. Biden and Harris are a National Security disaster.
1. No, they want their president to be "great". What does that mean? Depends on the person.
Trump supporters with a senile Trump wouldn't care. They'd vote Trump. Trump supporters with Trump fighting Biden, would say they don't want a senile president because.... Biden is a Democrat.
That's how their thinking goes. The senility part doesn't actually matter, except when it's convenient for them.
2. Yeah, they'd vote for Trump without Trump debating. Trump might not debate Harris, and they don't care. They'll still vote for him.
3. Trump's "pitch" is to go online, see what people are complaining about, complain about it in his rallies and then give some crap solutions to those problems.

“Out of eight children that I’m a father and a stepfather to, five of them are struggling, and I’m giving them part of my income on a regular basis,” said one voter, who had a “Trump 2024” patch on his vest.
“How are you going to make the economy — not just the food and electricity — but bring down the rent prices, the housing prices, so that these kids can survive without their parents’ help?”
"But first, Trump kicked things off by celebrating that he probably has the support of “at least 99, perhaps 100% of” the people Fox News was speaking to at the event."
Trump talks crap, and they'll continue to support him. Most wouldn't be able to understand the solutions to the problems they're facing. Vance, in his book, basically said the problems are because people are lazy and can't be bothered to keep their jobs.
But Trump isn't going to say that, but that's more or less his policy. He'll do nothing but expect them to work harder.
4. Yeah, the border issue might be the only thing that he's got.
