Which party most closely resembles this quote from the Daily Oklahoman in 1951?

“A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the majority discovers it can vote itself largess out of the public treasury. After that, the majority always votes for the candidate promising the most benefits with the result the democracy collapses because of the loose fiscal policy ensuing, always to be followed by a dictatorship, then a monarchy."

A republic ma'am, if you can keep it- note the difference, not only in spelling, but in practice as well.

The US was never a democracy. It's a Republic.

The former government in Greece was a democracy, only, slaves could not vote. So not even they were a pure democracy. Unfortunately, most were slaves

But it worked for Greece for a while as those that could vote debated issues all day and were informed as their slaves made it possible to do that as they took care of all of their needs. But today, the "slave" vote in the US, that is, those who work all day to survive, hence being uninformed voters that are heavily influenced and steered by such things as the media and academia, etc. That way, the powers that be always can steer the vote the way they need it, much like they are doing this election cycle.

As for the Greeks, they were less likely to bankrupt themselves because they were the rich in society that could vote, so they had no rich group to loot like those in modern democracies. In that regard, Greece had the only form of democracy that had a chance to surviving, unfortunately, it all hinged on slavery so it could work.

You meant Athenian democracy.

Most don't think of the US as a Republic, because everyone in media and academia refer to it as a democracy. This is purposeful disinformation.

The reason is, Progressives favor a pure democracy, because that way they can steer largely uninformed voters their way via mob rule. They are masters at it. That is why they favor doing away with the electoral college, it is why they did away with Senators being appointed, it is why they favor getting the vote without a voter ID, etc. It is because they know that all they have to do to get votes, is promise more free stuff and steer their voting with the media and academia, but the Founders were appalled at the notion of a democracy because they realized the dangers therein. That is why they divided Congress and gave those in the House who were elected by the people only 2 years to serve, as where those in the Senate who were appointed got 6 years. It is also why there are only 2 Senators per state giving them more voting power and giving them more important powers than the House like confirming a Supreme Court Justice. It is because the Founders understood that an informed vote by those who had skin in the game was more reliable, which is why Progressives sought to destroy it.

Too bad the right wing got so good at lying and manipulating our common defense clause into a common offense and general warfare clause, first.
