Well I must applaud Australia for having the testicular fortitude to make this decision.

Bravo for beginning to take a common sense approach to the environment. It's a start.

Australia axes ministerial role for climate change

The new Australian Cabinet will be the first in six years to not have a ministerial role for climate change issues, merging instead global warming with the wider environment portfolio.

Announcing his Cabinet on Monday, incoming Prime Minister Tony Abbott appointed Greg Hunt, the Liberal-National Coalition’s spokesman on climate change issues since 2009, as the new Minister for the Environment.

“(Hunt) will have responsibility for the abolition of the carbon tax, implementation of the Coalition’s Direct Action plan, the establishment of the Green Army and the creation of a one-stop-shop for environmental approvals,” Abbott said in a statement

That could also be interpreted as having given global warming activism the chair at the heat of the table.

Interpret as much as you like....the plain truth, however, is that global warming activism has been excused from the table.

And yet the liberal party's former spokesman on climate change is now in charge. How do you manage to ignore facts like that? It must be a handy talent at times.

Tony Abbott believes that climate change is a load of bullshit, so this comes as no surprise.
The man is a dickhead.

In charge of what?

As the new Minister for the Environment, Hunt will have responsibility for the abolition of the carbon tax, implementation of the Coalition’s Direct Action plan, the establishment of the Green Army and the creation of a one-stop-shop for environmental approvals.

The IPCC report is expected to affirm the human link with greater certainty than ever, but the panel is under pressure to also address the recent lower rate of warming, which scientists say is likely due to heat going deep into the ocean and natural climate fluctuations. - Global warming slowing: What does that mean? - CSMonitor.com

Is the OP being disingenuous?

Moi? Never. The story is true about Australia.

In reference to the new IPCC report though, politicians want the climate scientists to cover up the fact that there has been no warming for 15 years.

I put up a thread about it in politics.

Fears that the findings will encourage deniers of man-made climate change

Seriously, they are afraid their cash cow is about to kick the bucket. They all need or want the carbon tax.

End of the world and save the planet scenarios are very profitable for politicians. No wonder they are freaking that the truth might get out.

Germany called for the references to the slowdown in warming to be deleted, saying looking at a time span of just 10 or 15 years was ‘misleading’ and they should focus on decades or centuries.

Hungary worried the report would provide ammunition for deniers of man-made climate change.

Belgium objected to using 1998 as a starting year for statistics, as it was exceptionally warm and makes the graph look flat - and suggested using 1999 or 2000 instead to give a more upward-pointing curve.

The United States delegation even weighed in, urging the authors of the report to explain away the lack of warming using the ‘leading hypothesis’ among scientists that the lower warming is down to more heat being absorbed by the ocean – which has got hotter.
