Many years ago, a renegade Supreme Court invented and decreed a system of enforced racial discrimination that was called "Affirmative Action." The premise was that white people couldn't be trusted to treat "minorities" fairly, so it was necessary to force them to hire, admit, promote, and exalt "minority" people whose credentials were sub-standard, in the name of achieving "equal rights."
But after many years of pushing incompetents under "Affirmative Action" programs (which was counterproductive and stupid), the political Right finally convinced the Court that Affirmative Action was actually illegal and unconstitutional enforced racism, so it was abandoned. Sort of.
What the court did was it said that you can't promote someone just because of their race, ethnicity, or gender, but you can enforce a policy of "diversity," which is basically the same thing under a different name.
And "Diversity" has become a religion. A "religion" is a belief system that is based on things that are either not-provable, or are provably false.
Today's priests of Diversity exist mainly in (1) Government, (2) organizations and institutions that derive most of their revenue from Government, (3) Schools, (4) hospitals and hospital systems, and (5) institutions that are beholden to regulators, and thus must kiss the government's ass indirectly (e.g., utilities, large banks). They constantly promote "diversity" and praise its benefits. In the Real World of profit-making private companies (say, in Silicon Valley), "Diversity" is acknowledged as total bullshit, and aside from a bit of tokenism, it is not employed.
Because the fact is, there are no benefits of Diversity (to the institution).
Show me a school system, at any level, that has experienced INCREASED TEST SCORES due to the implementation of a robust "Diversity" program. Show me a police department that has improved its performance in any way by increasing the "diversity" of its upper echelons. Show me a non-profit that has improved its performance in any measurable way due to the implementation of "Diversity" measures. They are in the same place as Unicorns: fantasy land.

When you look for studies on the positive impacts of "Diversity," and you take the time to read through all the bullshit, the bottom line is that a Diversity program makes some white people (mainly women) feel good about themselves, and that is how it is justified. But ultimately, a Diversity program results in marginal people being put in positions of responsibility and authority, and the competent people (mainly white men)around them holding their breath that they don't fuck things up too badly.
Around the country, we have people in various selected victim groups being hired as chiefs of police, school superintendents, high level managers, and highly-paid consultants, and in essentially no case is the performance of that organization enhanced in any measurable way - often performance suffers.
