The Dems following the Trumpsters' lead?

I often gleefully point out similarities in the behaviors of the two opposing sides of the political spectrum, and here's one that is pretty interesting. And maybe it will turn out to be a positive:

The Democratic Party Deserved To Die | Huffington Post (sound familiar?)

This is written by Democrat Krystal Ball - and I don't care who you are, you gotta love that name - and she is essentially saying the same kinds of things about the Democrats that the Trumpsters have said about the GOP.

And for those who will pretend that I'm saying the two sides are "exactly the same" - you know who you are - no, that's not what I'm saying. Her point Ball is making here is that the Democrats have let their people down, that they've become something else. And no one can deny that's the same frustration that created this shocking Trump win.

From the piece:

Hillary Clinton’s shortcomings were obvious from the beginning to anyone who bothered to open their eyes. I wasn’t the only one who saw before she ever entered the race that a card-carrying member of the global elite who helped usher in this era of record-breaking inequality was hardly the best fit for the moment. It’s hard not to feel let down by people like Vice President Biden and Senator Warren who clearly saw the problems with Hillary but didn’t step up for their nation when they were called. Bernie did his level best but couldn’t compete against a party terrified of the modest radicalism that made him so appealing. I do believe that a different candidate would have led to a different outcome. But Hillary’s coronation is also proof that the problems in the Democratic Party run much deeper than just one candidate. There’s a reason why nearly the entire party rose up to stomp out the promise of Bernie Sanders candidacy.
.
If Democrats push fruitcakes like Warren and Sanders you will officially lose the minority vote to the GOP.

Trump will destroy your party no matter what you do.

Minorities would be happy to vote for socialists.

Though polling has just taking a big hit, all the polling data suggested that Sanders would have been an HARDER opponent for Trump than Hillary.

The Dems have been coasting on the base strategy of importing the Third World for decades.

It would be EASY for them to up their game, actually.

Indeed, there is nothing in their ideology that would prevent them from co-opting Trumps' immigration and trade policies.

It would take SECONDS to spin it for the lefty voters.

Package it as population control/environmental concern and anti-globalism.

Hell, demand that workers of multi-nationals be paid the min wage of their home nations, or the markets the exports are going to, and the dem voters would buy it in a hearth beat.

And the effect would be very similar.

I believe the coming year will be a new era for the Democratic Party... 2018 is around the corner and the GOP will gain or might just retain their seats that election cycle unless some disaster happen...

So in 2020 which way does the Democratic party turn?

Will Elizabeth Warren be their New Hope?

Will there be someone that no one see like President Obama was in 2006?

Right now the hour is dark for the Democratic Party and the Democratic Party would have been better off running Sanders over Clinton but that is the past now...

One thing I am sure of is the Democratic Party is not dead but it will take until 2022 before they might have another chance and if they pin their hopes on those like Warren then it will be longer...
2018 will result in a Senate supermajority for Republicans.

Warren and Sander's are really all they have, and they will lose(if Sanders doesn't die or retire by then).

Warren is from a blue state, so she is safe, and Bernie would have to die or retire to lose his seat...

I don't believe the GOP will obtain Super Majority but the Senate will stay red...
I am talking about them running either as a presidential candidate.

The GOP has many Senate seats it can pick up in 2018.

Possible for Warren running but she would lose big!

Only two women I ever thought could have won White House and that was Snowe and O'Connor, and Warren is not them!

I do not believe the GOP will pick up many seats in 2018, and if the Democratic does not find someone then Trump will win in 2020...
My guess is that Trump & Co will hit the ground running, so by the 2018 elections, the electorate will have a pretty clear picture of what to think.
.

I certainly hope so!!

She is correct that the suppression of Bernie was proof of a deeper problem in the DNC.

On the other hand, that fact that the populist rebel on the dem side is a Socialist is pretty damning for the dems and for America.
Yeah, that's fair, and I think it's reflective of the current state of the party.
.

All I am going to say to you is, told you so.
You sure as hell did.

I hope he does great, that we're kicking ass across the board very soon, and for a long time.

That would mean I was REALLY fucking wrong, and I'd be thrilled.

Full disclosure: I've been married 33 years, I'm wrong all the time. Ask my wife.
.

Consider his campaign. All the experts said he was doomed.

They were all wrong, and he was right.

And now, instead of being at a disadvantage as any Republican is, with this population of voters and states, he will instead be President of the most powerful nation in the world.

The Democratic party was taken over by kook liberals who's policies routinely screwed over the poor and middle class. Told you so, the first viable alternative to voting for these creeps and they would bolt the Democratic party. Now the question is will the Democratic party try to win them back by lying to them or will they tell these liberals to STFU and stop shitting on their base.

Even though I am sure you don't like your candidate not winning, isn't it great to have the feeling that a great weight has been lifted? I think we all can say, thank God it is finally over. Now the fun begins.

Oh, I'm considering it.

Now that the dust has settled a bit, I clearly didn't understand and underestimated the rage, the anger.

I can't relate to it, but I do see it now. I hope things go well.

1. My point was, to not underestimate his intelligence at seeing the situation, nor his ability to effect the outcome he wants.

2. As to things going well, well, America has managed to drag out one more chance. If we do not change course, or shake up current trends, without our lifetimes the GOP will be marginalized, and that "angry "majority of the largest single ethnic group will be effectively and permanently disenfranchised.

Then you will see that this election was not actually about "anger". This was just people wanting their interests and voices addressed and heard.

When they realize that that will never happen again? THAT'S when you will actually see anger.

Thanks. I made a couple of other "points" on this here, let me know what you think: A little post mortem
