The time to cut spending is when the annual budget is debated.

When you don’t get what you want, holding the debt limit hostage is not a solution.

It is the perfect time, and it isn't really holding it hostage as it will be raised, it always is. When in the last 240 plus years has the US defaulted on debt, and it won't default this time either, it is really just silly political noise. All it is is political fodder to keep the masses excited. If Republicans were not obsessed with Mexico paying for the wall, why did Trump chant it at every speech?

Why weren‘t Republicans honest and just tell people that they would be paying or tell them he would be stealing funding from the Military?
