The Yankees are an iconic organization with the most success in pro sports history throughout their existence, no question.

However, since they've adopted the "Spend tons of cash, steal everyone else's players" strategy, trying to buy championships, they've been a dismal failure. Why do I say that? Let's go year by year:
(Year: Yankee payroll (rank of spending), Result of season)

2001: 112 million (1st). L World Series to Arizona 4-3
2002: 126 million (1st). L Divisional round to Anaheim 3-1
2003: 153 million (1st) L World Series to Florida 4-2
2004: 184 million (1st). L ALCS to Boston 4-3
2005: 208 million (1st). L Divisional round to LA Angels 3-2
2006: 195 million (1st). L Divisional round to Detroit 3-1
2007: 190 million (1st). L Divisional round to Cleveland 3-1
2008: 209 million (1st). MISSED PLAYOFFS
2009: 201 million (1st). W World Series over Philadelphia 4-2
2010: 213 million (1st). L ALCS to Texas 4-2
2011: 207 million (1st). L Divisional round to Detroit 3-2
2012: 210 million (1st). L ALCS to Detroit 4-0
2013: 228 million (1st). MISSED PLAYOFFS
2014: 197 million (2nd). MISSED PLAYOFFS
2015: 218 million (2nd). L WC Game to Houston
2016: 226 million (2nd). MISSED PLAYOFFS
2017: 196 million (4th). L ALCS to Houston 4-3
2018: 166 million (6th). L Divisional round to Boston 3-1
2019: 204 million (3rd). L ALCS to Houston 4-2
2020: 108 million (1st). L Divisional round to Tampa 3-2
2021: 198 million (2nd). L WC Game to Boston
2022: 246 million (3rd). L ALCS to Houston 4-0
2023: 278 million (2nd). MISSED PLAYOFFS
2024: 297 million (2nd). L World Series to LA 4-1

What a laughably horrible, inefficient, long list of choke jobs by a team that tried to buy their way into more Championships.

So many 1st round exits, so many gag jobs.. they are the biggest choke artists in sports history as far as the amount of resources they've spent and the results they've attained.

As a life long Yankees fan I can say that you’re absolutely right and it’s pathetic.

I hate to dump on you guys, but.. I mean... look at how much you've spent, how many players you've stolen, and how little you have to show for it.

As pathetic as the Mariners have been throughout their 48 seasons.

They have the BEST starting Pitching in MLB.
They have multiple Billionaire Owners, John Stanton being the most Vocal.
They say they have to live within a budget.

Fuck John Stanton, Being a Billionaire, he could easily spend 50 Million of his OWN $$$ to help win.
But WINNING is not in it, it's about MORE FUCKING profit.

This is exactly why I despise the Ultra Rich.
Yes, let's protect them EVEN more with Tax Cuts.

BEST rotation in MLB, but won't spend to get an Infielder.

This isn't about your Mariners. Has nothing to do with what I'm talking about as far as sports and spending.

Oh my bad.
I thought it was a thread about SPENDING.

JFC, you cult members are triggered easily.
BTW, fuck the Yankees.

Yes, it's about a team that spends and fails, not about teams that don't spend. All I'm doing is keeping the thread on topic. The fact that you barged in with content that has nothing to do with the original topic and are now angry that it's not embraced is something I can't control. This thread is about the Yankees, their spending, and their clear failure. If you're too insecure and triggered to debate sports with someone you disagree with politically.. that's a signal that you're what's wrong.

Well, I just tried to express my frustration with 'spending'

Sorry you are so butthurt about your FAILED Yankees.

I take that back, I'm not sorry about the Yankee Failures at all.
I hope you are a Cowboy fan too.

You think I'm a Yankees fan? I delight in their failure.

They are what's wrong with baseball. You're all over the place here, angrily flooding my thread with pointless nonsense.

How about just staying on topic like a big person?

LOL. You and I were discussing this very thing in the Soto thread, but you felt the need to take an hour and type all that out.

While you’re at it, add the late 1990s to your list. Yanks won it all in 96, 98, 99, and 2000. That’s 5 titles in 28 years. I’m fairly sure only one non-Yanks team can match that percentage in a 28 year stretch.

I’ll also bet you a cyber nickel that the Yanks were top three in spending during their late 1990s run. Hell, I’ll bet they were first. But go ahead and check me, armchair exec. You seem to have loads of time.🤣

lol....the angels aint no different....it seems like we all have teams that spend and get little for it...

Took me 15 minutes over a glass of bourbon while I was curious. I like sports history.

Sorry you're mad that your team has failed and choked so many times... look at that list. Year after year.. playoff loss after playoff loss, all while outspending everyone. Yikes.

So what am I supposed to do?

Be a proper conservative and root for the team that has the lowest payroll and highest win record?

LOL! You said in the other thread that you knew all this without looking. 🤣

And, I specifically said in that thread that I loathe the Yanks.

But go ahead and have a few more drinks so you can keep your armchair winning streak alive. :laugh2:

Well, there's always the Seattle Crackheads. Maybe then can win the Stanly Cup before their Climate Pledge Arena melts from gloobal worming.

Those armchair sports execs are called neo-cons.

Sports isn't political. Root for whoever you want. All I'm doing is looking at the record of the Yankees over the past years that they've spend an ass ton and gotten nearly jack sh*t for it
