Now re-sign Alonzo and we’re in business

He had 7 world titles in 35 years. Proof is in the pudding.
Only 1 since 2001.. since the Yankees started outspending the rest of the league by eons.

Over the past 20+ years, the Yanks are the biggest choke artists in sports history, a complete failure of a franchise given how many resources they’ve applied

George Steinbrenner would not allow the Mets to outbid him on one of his best players

That’s to his detriment in the long run. Plus, Soto hasn’t even had a cup of coffee in New
York.. he’s not exactly a “Yankee” in spirit.. but then again, the yanks don’t often breed their own talent.

And 5 titles since '96.

Your statement is like saying, Yeah, that team won, but they scored only 25 points in the second half.

I loathe the Yanks, but I tip my hat to them.

Haters gonna hate. :D

That was before they outspent everyone. That’s the issue.

Once they’ve gone all-in and began trying to buy championships, they’ve only won 1.. that’s since 2001. They’ve been first in spending most years by A LOT, and if not first, they’ve been second.

Yet one World Series title.

For all the resources they’ve spent, it’s a pathetic record. They choke pretty much every year despite buying the best players away from teams.

Baloney. Yanks have generally outspent a lot longer than that.

Dodgers are historically and generally at the top of the pile for spending. And yet the Dodgers are horrible compared to Yankee World Series titles.

You don't even know big market teams have always spent more. lol
I don’t feel sorry for small market teams
For one, there is not a single small market owner who is not a billionaire

Secondly, they all receive payoffs from the luxury tax. This money is meant so they can remain competitive. Rather than invest in better players, most just keep the money

Exactly. I don't feel for the cheap asses either. Either invest or stfu.

You don't say it because you don't know it.
I said the Yankees have outspent all other teams by a ton over the last 23 years and have 1 championship to show for it.

They’re choking dogs, failures
