DIE: The Chief of the Boat of the USS Manchester currently deployed in the South China Sea installed an illegal Starlink antenna and secret wifi network so she could watch her favorite telenovelas. When she was caught she lied to her commanding officer and the admiral not once but three times forcing an official NCIS investigation to be conducted. The antenna and network potentially allowed the Chinese Navy to track the ship and penetrate its classified Combat Information Systems.
Despite putting the entire crew of the Manchester at risk AND lying to her commanding officer Command Senior Chief Petty Officer Grisel Marrero was not given any prison time nor was she separated from the Navy - instead she was demoted to Chief Petty Officer and reassigned. Marrero was recruited and promoted BECAUSE of her racial and cultural identity to meet the diversity, equity, and inclusion goals of the Navy. As a result, her command did not believe they could separate her from the Navy much less sentence her to prison.

She was an E 8. And this is a discharge offense. A Dishonorable Discharge offense. She was several times if she had an illegal WI FI set up. This could put the ship in danger. She was reduced one rank to E 7. All of those gold lines representing so called honorable service with no marring of her record. It is possible she has done other things because of her being questioned several times denying there was a WI FI set up and then continuing it. She could have gotten out of it. DEI.
She should be reprimanded and probably discharged dishonorably.

In his book--My American Journey, Colin Powell talks about how soldiers would short circuit the thermostat in the barracks. DEI had another to do with that and it has nothing to do with the CPO doing this on her ship.

I think that's a bit harsh. Enlisted personnel have probably been doing stuff like this since the Roman Legions.

So she got busted in rank and probably has very little chance of getting those stripes back. Unlikely she'll get sea duty again. Probably going to dead-end her career.

You're assuming that all women or people of color are incompetent. That's not what I'm saying. I'm saying if you are focusing on gender, race, ethnicity, or the plethora of other DEI descriptions, that you are overlooking qualifications. If are obsessed with meeting DEI quotas, then eventually you will end up choosing an unqualified person for the job.

There are some people, and we all know of at least one, who kept getting chosen for who they knew, or because or various types of favoritism, instead being based on qualifications and what they can do. After a few years of being promoted and advanced thru this process, you'll end up in a high position. People who don't know you will simply assume you are qualified for the position, otherwise you wouldn't be in that position.

This is how a person in middle management gets promoted up in the company, and then they find themselves in a position where they have enough freedom and power that they have no one else to pick up the slack or keep them in-line, and they fail catastrophically.

We see this a lot when someone is promoted and placed into a position based mostly on them being "the first <fill-in-the-blank>" Like:

Christina Peterson Is the first black female Judge In Douglass County Georgia. She has been removed from her probate judge post for being Systemic Incompetence.

There were 8 other Chief Petty Officers, likely all white, that gave her $1000 a month for the satellite internet service fees paid to the satellite provider....

Did you automatically jump to these 8 other officers making such a stupid and unsafe and insecure move to pay each month for this internet service so they could keep up with sports scores as being DEI hires? DEI as being the reason for them to be in their chief petty officer positions, and making such a stupid decision on getting this unauthorized Satellite internet.

And why assume it is someone less qualified just because they are Hispanic or black or a female etc? That isn't how equal opportunity employment etc etc is suppose to work....? What it deems is if you have two potential equally qualified employee candidates to hire, competing for the same one job, and one was black and one was white, that the employer considers hiring the black potential worker, IF the business does not have a balanced diversified workforce....

Pure conjecture on my part. Because the Biden admin has pushed DEI so damn hard onto the military, I just make an educated assumption. We'll never know the answer, but there are so few women in the Navy who make it a career, that it would be rare for her to be chosen on merit only.

Women in general have been getting artificially boosted by every promotion board. When it comes to Command Senior Chief Petty Officers in the Navy, there are very few, maybe 5 in 100 hundred are women. The Navy was already seeing it as a goal to try and retain as many of female sailors as possible. And with Biden's obsession with DEI the emphasis on promoting women of color in the Navy it's now an obsessive priority.

As soon as Biden was sworn into office, he was pushing his trans agenda onto the US military.
