The bigger censorship offender- Private Sector or Government?

The private sector censors more speech.

Excellent! Your reply demonstrates that you read and understood the opening post. The rest of what you posted was meant to defend censorship.
poor comprehension.

I support the free market.

If Costco chooses to NOT sell dunkin donuts coffee, that is not censorship. That is a business decision.

There is no such thing as censorship in a free market environment.....the only one who is not allowed to censor is the federal government.
Ten points if you can quote from the opening post what this thread is about. There is a clue in the second paragraph of it.

There is no law that prevents the private sector from censoring anyone or anything.

That said you can still say or write anything you want with no censorship whatsoever as long as you provide the means to write or say it so it doesn't matter if a private sector entity censors you on their platforms.

Of course there's more private censorship (that's the way it's supposed to be), but it's legal censorship. It only pertains to a given context and in no way violates anyone's rights.

Censorship is censorship, regardless of if the government does it, or if the private sector does it. Our freedom of speech rights are supposed to protect us from government censorship, but the private sector is allowed to censor. On that note, who censors more speech?

For those who will be derailing this thread, here is the question again: who censors more speech- the government or the private sector? This is what the thread is about.
The private sector censors more speech. They are allowed to. It is THEIR freedom. You don't like it, don't access their platform. Boycott. Start another. Whatever.

But as a conservative, I do not agree with government telling private enterprises they must adhere to the 1st A........it only applies to government.

Is there a right to have your voice heard on a private platform? If you send them something they have a right to publish it but do they have any obligation to do so? I don't think so.

It has already been established that the private sector censors more than the government because the government is prohibited by law where the private sector isn't.

And it doesn't matter if the private sector censors people on their platforms because that have the right to do so.

BUT you cannot be stopped by any private entity from saying or writing whatever you want so for all intents and purposes no private sector entity can censor you unless you agree to the terms of use of their platforms.

You are not guaranteed an audience for your speech.

Private sector with the support of the government.
What "support"?
The turning of a blind eye when it happens silence and inaction on this is same as supporting it in my opinion.

Ok, so no legal or financial support. Just letting them do it. What is government supposed to do when private companies censor?

They can't do anything about it. But these people want the government to force private sector entities to provide a venue for them.

True censorship by private businesses and government are fundamentally different since you have a choice with private businesses and you don't with government.

The problem is that private businesses like Google, Facebook, Twitter and Amazon are using government power to limit their competition and sensor Americans. That is the biggest problem we have

The left wants to promote the notion that censorship is not censorship if it can be done legally or if it isn't government doing it.

You propose this question of if there is a right to have your voice heard on a private platform, but rights violations are not relevant to the meaning of censorship. Blocking and removing voices from private platforms is censorship, regardless of any rights.

Declining to publish something may or may not be censorship, each situation is unique.

The private sector has crossed a line that once they never dreamed of crossing. Why, because they fear reprisals from the WOK, BLM, Antifa, anarchists, media, and DNC, which threaten to employ their resources to adversely negatively impact sales. It’s a new game in town it’s called extortion. Play our game or expect reprisals. Fascism has many faces. It’s just the start of things to come.

Fine them take tax breaks away they might be getting there are options. If we want to get real honest here when private sector censorship it’s talked about its big tech we are talking about Google, Facebook and Twitter being the biggest offenders. My suggestion we need someone to go Teddy Roosevelt on them and break up these big tech monopolies just as Roosevelt did to those back in his day.

Same think as my post. Censorship by the federal government and businesses.

Your point?

I disagree.

No private entity can prevent you from exercising your right to free speech.

You have no right to use the property of any private sector entity for any reason as you see fit. the private entity allows you to use their property and you agree to the house rules when you sign up as a user.

When you give permission to be subject to possible censorship you cannot say you are being censored.

Again, if we are speaking about society and general information exchange, the term "censorship" would best be reserved for something the government (or similar) does by forbidding and/or blocking information. Of course, we could call other kinds of information control "censorship", such as parents monitoring a child's reading, etc. If this is the way the o.p. wishes to use the term, obviously the government is not the most active.
If government censors, it is not illegal until someone challenges it in court and obtains a favorable decision. Censoring cases of state secrets during wartime, for example, often occur and usually stand.

It is the Private Sector that is the point of the spear for Censorship.
They are doing this as a favor to the democratic administration because the government is limited due to the 1st Amendment .
