OK, hear me out, all religions major and minor were created by a human.
The overall message is do good you go to a special place, do bad and you to to a horrible place, right?

What if we just cease to exist like a mouse killed by a cat?

No proof we have a soul that moves on, not way to prove it so it's just a theory and nothing more

we are an animal on earth like a bear, just more intelligent....maybe when we die we just die........poof, game over.........nothing

thoughts?

My thoughts are I can't help you.

wow, two negatives without even any logical discussion

I don't need help, I want to hear what you have to say........that is called debate

You try to explain what I stated as false in your mind and give evidence, that's how it works

You don't tell me what to do. Goodbye.
I heard you out and decided you're an idiot, truth be known.

What makes you think you, or anyone else for that matter, are human?

Only an idiot would not be up for a simple debate. what did I say you think is wrong? why don't you VOICE your opinion on the matter instead of calling me an idiot for a simple question for logical debate?

That makes you feeble minded and not open for discussion, simple at that

Simple question to ponder, not that difficult but instead of engaging I am telling you what to do and goodbye?

at no point did I tell you a ******* thing.....are you high or drunk?

Learn to read.........apparently you did not grasp this with your negativity

Science classifies us as homo sapiens. Do keep your facts straight.

There's nothing human nor humane about some atheist transgender Democratic liberal assassin murdering someone for exercising their 1st Amendment rights.

As a matter of fact it makes them inhuman atheist Nazi fascists.

Perhaps if you had framed your OP in less dogmatic and prejudicial context, it would be easier for people to respond. You obviously have your mind made up and that puts people in the position of feeling confrontational or critical with any response.

While I love discussing the possibilities and theories related to religious beliefs, I am not interested in being confrontational with anyone.

But perhaps some will wish to discuss it.

Most religions dont have hell so youre point overly simplistic about the horrible place is wrong.
We do have soul and NDE research has gathered evidence that memory and emotions continue after the body dies.
It appears from your beliefs that you have created hell on earth for yourself

All governments were created by a human. All schools, all houses, all stores, canals, dams, sports, playgrounds--and the written word. Consider the likelihood all this came about through humans observing the world around them, and one of the things observed was observed was God in our midst. Examples of this are noted by ancient man in the Bible, indications are it was noted before the Bible.

There are some amazing stories about near death experiences--life after death. I understand this was noted by ancient Egyptians. Second, is the most recent data regarding the Shroud of Turin, which is worth studying.

Question: Why the hope of no life after death?

My first thought is that you got the premise all wrong. The overall message ISN'T do good you go to a special place, do bad and you to to a horrible place. The overall message is doing good is it's own reward and will lead to peace, joy, happiness and prosperity in one's life.

No proof it doesn't either, right?

But why should that matter? Do you see a lot of people behaving like it matters? I don't. Here's the deal... you are free to pursue, fame, fortune, power and pleasure. But in the end none of those will satisfy you because you were made for more.

Not at all, I am content with what I have and who I am

I did not state any belief, I simply stated a what if......as in theory

empirical evidence there is a heaven, hell, purgatory or we reuse our soul and come back as something else on earth?

That is why it's theology

Why would you expect empirical evidence for the transcendent? The best you can hope for is indirect evidence. And even then it would be hard for you to accept because of your bias.

But to your point...

The word theology is derived from the Greek words theos (Θεός), meaning "God," and logia (λογία), meaning "discourse," "word," or "study". This makes its literal meaning "discourse on God" or "the study of God".
The term was first used in ancient Greece and evolved over centuries:
  • Greek philosophy: Greek philosophers like Plato and Aristotle used the term theologia to refer to a discourse on the nature of the divine, as opposed to myth.
  • Christianity: The term was later adopted by Christian thinkers. In scholastic tradition, it came to mean the academic discipline that systematically studies Christian doctrine and the nature of God through rational inquiry.
  • Modern usage: In modern times, the word has expanded to apply to the study of religious ideas and teachings beyond Christianity. It can refer to the study of any religion's teachings, texts, and traditions.

Hopefully not...and I think there has been circumstantial evidence throughout history that there IS something else, but we humans really don't know just what it is. We are not really in a position to "know". It certainly seems that some, maybe many people have "memories" of things they shouldn't remember but sometimes some research proves that they were real events....and they seem to know them intimately. Also, many people including myself have had supernatural experiences where unseen horses that simply can't be explained literally interfered for good or ill at some point in my life. I don't believe that that's a proof of God, or hell, or demons...but it does seem that there is something more. When people form home religions around these things and resolve with ultimate conviction and authority that they know exactly what is going on beyond the physical world, that conjecture has the potential to come back and hit them right in the face. Many religions, including the ones which claim they know who God is, teach humbleness. Is it not humble to admit that we do not really know about these things? I do have faith that there is something else and I have seen things which strongly suggest to me that our spirits may exist without our bodies. But beyond that I have not the arrogance profess how that works or who is in control of it if anyone.

I basically imagine (keyword: Imagine) us all as drops of water which all return to a great pool when our physical lives end. There we all mix together, and it all starts over again. It rains and each new drop of water is an amalgam of many lives. It is perpetually raining as new souls manifest back into life, bringing with them foggy memories of people places and things they have known before. Perhaps sometimes we get lucky and much of what we were returns almost complete. I see "spirit" as being fluid, nebulous, and dissolving. I feel my personal experiences, which I not really alone with, hold as much weight as any book reprinted by humans for 1000's of years with almost zero proof of anything in them. I look for living proof of things, in the form of physical manifestation of spirit, not claims and rules and rites in a book written by man.

Tyrants Tell Us What Our Feelings Mean

The social cancer of inheritance shows a desire to have an afterlife. In fact, it's as ridiculous a perversion of that urge as the Hindu maharajahs' dogma of reincarnation. So maybe there is a less power-hungry fulfillment of that desire.
