The 10 fastest trains in the world, 2020.

The fastest train is a mag-lev that goes almost 400 mph or 600 kph
'

Mag-Lev could be wave of the future. More than a few problems. Electricity is the prime mover.

Not exactly environment-friendly running off of coal-fired plants.
Wind could be worth the investment in some places but, I suspect solar power grids along the rail path will eventually be the most efficient way to go. (with the existing grid used at night.)

There is no reason to plow up ungodly acres of land to build 19th century locomotion when we have an ample supply of airports and aircraft.
trains
to move army supplies
never people
autos
not busses
Jet fuel costs alone will eventually break the airlines,
unless you know something nobody else does ...
I think you've been watching too many cartoons.

There were several cost-related headaches with airlines, before this.

The headaches of dealing with their shitty customer service will be eternal.

Union labor, the cost of building and maintaining airports....
( that one on the man-made island in Japan is pretty impressive)

airlines generally don't build the airports. They have, however, pissed away fortunes buying up airport space they don't want or need just to try to keep competition at bay.

They seem like an ideal target for terrorism to me. Just run a bulldozer, backhoe or excavator through the fence and park it on the tracks at a predetermined time and let the train’s speed do the rest. Could just cut out a few feet of track too with an acetylene torch. Too easy.
