It began with Bill Clinton when he sponsored China's entry into the WTO as a developing country, which meant that China could impose tariffs and limit imports to protect it domestic industries but the US, a developed country could not. So China imposed tariffs on US exports that priced them out of the market and the only way US companies could escape the tariffs was to move their production facilities to China, but that was only allowed if they took a Chinese partner.

So US companies that wanted to sell to the huge Chinese market had to move their factories and jobs to China and before President Trump, there was nothing the US could do about it under WTO rules. In order to look presidential by bowing to international organizations like the WTO, Bush and Obama were helpless in the face of Chinese economic aggression, but President Trump chose to protect American jobs even if it made him seem less presidential to some and regardless of what the WTO thought.

I am not sure about that. Biden would not have ignored his advisors when they said the coronavirus was an impending pandemic in January. Biden would not have disbanded or reduced the role of the pandemic response Team. Biden would not have downplayed the virus for nearly three months before coming around to its seriousness. Biden would have done what Trump is finally doing right now, but would have started three months ago.

It's the PC model that the democrats have adopted, early on, Biden wouldn't have crossed that model.

to keep with the PC model. I can only imagine what this country would have been witnessing at this point.

He has been slow to react on most things, his one claim to fame is restricting travel from China (not banning like he claims).

The US and South Korea got hit by the first case at about the same time. On 21 Jan the leader of SK pulled together the heads of industry and told them it was coming and tasked them with coming up with a test and then mass producing it. And they did.

Trump pulled together the heads of industry 2 months later.
