Texas removes 1 million ineligible voters from voter rolls — finds 30% of noncitizens previously cast ballots

Texas Governor Greg Abbott (R) announced Monday that since he signed Senate Bill 1 into law in 2021, the state has removed more than 1 million ineligible voters from its voter rolls.

SB 1 aimed to "uphold the integrity of elections in Texas" by establishing uniform voting hours across the state and banning drive-through voting and unsolicited applications for mail-in ballots.

Texas removed from its rolls people who are noncitizens, deceased, or those who had moved out of the state and were no longer residents, according to a press release from Abbott's office.

More than 6,500 of those removed from the voter rolls are noncitizens. Abbott's office claimed that 1,930 of those individuals — approximately 30% — had voted in previous elections.

"The Secretary of State's office is in the process of sending all 1,930 records to the Attorney General's Office for investigation and potential legal action," the press release read.

Over 6,000 of those removed from Texas' voter rolls had felony convictions, 457,000 were deceased, and 463,000 were on the suspense list.

The release noted that the removal process is still ongoing.

"Election integrity is essential to our democracy," Abbott declared.

"I have signed the strongest election laws in the nation to protect the right to vote and to crack down on illegal voting," Abbott stated. "These reforms have led to the removal of over one million ineligible people from our voter rolls in the last three years, including noncitizens, deceased voters, and people who moved to another state."

He continued, "The Secretary of State and county voter registrars have an ongoing legal requirement to review the voter rolls, remove ineligible voters, and refer any potential illegal voting to the Attorney General's Office and local authorities for investigation and prosecution. Illegal voting in Texas will never be tolerated. We will continue to actively safeguard Texans' sacred right to vote while also aggressively protecting our elections from illegal voting."

It is just amazing how many ways there is to cheat in elections with no one seemingly giving a damn.
Weird because Texas is one of the reddest states on the electoral map.
Are you telling me that ALL those Republican wins have been FAKE???
WOW!
I'm gonna have to rethink my whole reality!

No they didn’t. You can’t read and suck at math.
This is from the link in the OP...

7,000 is not 30% of 1 million!

Nobody that is actually paying attention should have confidence in our elections. It is a fact that it takes very little for a non-citizen to register to vote and to actually vote. To believe that is not happening is the epitome of naïveté, particularly with the COVID rule changes, this administration’s unwillingness to secure the border and the Democrat’s unwillingness to secure the election. It is pretty obvious, but Democrats don’t care, because it is benefitting them at the moment. They won’t even go back to pre-pandemic rules because they see the benefit. It is blatantly obvious why that is the case.

What evidence do you have that elections aren't secure, that's the question.

There were 1 million AMERICAN Citizens that were ineligible to vote on the voter rolls. One single vote from any of those ineligible Americans is just as bad as 1 vote from an illegal immigrant.

Both would dilute the vote of eligible citizens....

When registering to vote at most DMVs, what is required for proof of citenzship? There is no documentary evidence necessary.(A drivers license doesn’t require proof of citizenship and yet it can be used as ID to register to vote) Democrats opposed a bill by Republicans to require either a birth certifcate., naturalization papers, certificate of citizenship or a passport. All that is needed is to check a box stating that under penalty of perjury and a felony, you are a US citizen. Seriously, you think that is secure? Do you really think the left would even prosecute someone that did this? Democrat has no interest in securing our elections. None.

I have no problem with scrubbing the rolls, and securing the registration and the voting process. Somehow I don’t think Democrats would be on board.

As a result of Shrub's real ID act, a birth cert is required to renew a DL. Not being a wetback or legal immigrant I assume a passport or naturalization papers in other instances.

If you don't provide such proof, you don't get registered to vote.

Why was a bill proposed by Republicans to require it if it is already the case? And why did Democrats oppose it?

Proof is not required, just an attestation.

Again, that doesn't get one registered. The DMV doesn't register anyone to vote. All they do is pass your information to the Secretary of State's office who does register people who are eligible to vote.

All 50 states should be doing this, but as we know demrat run states will do little or nothing.

All 50 states should be doing this throughout the year. Red states only do this right before the election. And they don't notify anyone their name is being struck until AFTER they do it, which is backwards. Notice, final notice, then strike.

And what does the Secretary of State’s office do to verify citizenship(not residence) other than checking to make sure the applicant checked the “I am a US citizen” box?

Or for that matter the election of the enormously corrupt AG Ken Paxton?

Or is the purge of voter rolls in TX really about something else?

Texas GOP doubles down on fraud claims as Trump, Cruz leads shrink

AUSTIN – Texas Republicans are doubling down on claims that Democrats in the state’s biggest cities are attempting to steal the 2024 election – a contest in which the GOP’s leads in the Senate and presidential races are increasingly narrowing.

State GOP leaders like Gov. Greg Abbott and Attorney General Ken Paxton have made the state’s large urban counties a focus of allegations of a grand Democratic conspiracy to steal the 2024 election.
