Disenfranchising citizens that repubs think vote more for democrats by giving them extra hurdles to jump over and miss, is unconstitutional....imo.

Every registered voter should be vetted for citizenship by the precinct, who have access to the govt records....vetted for citizenship, vetted for being a felon, vetted for their age over 18, vetted address and be verified by the precinct before they approve the voting registration application, through our govt systems.

It should be the government vetter's job to verify qualifications.

The law has some good measures but other measures disenfranchises, students, women, military and fam, wage workers etc

Already under the law or registration and voting process, an ID like your social security last 4 digits, or your drivers licence number are required on the registration application....

Then the govt office vets you just from that info....for approval or not.

Then, under federal law, the first time a newly registered voter votes.... he or she has to show identification that they are the person registered to that address registered on file....this can be their most recent electric bill with name and address or driver's licence....etc etc.

All this only shows that somebody is who they say they are. SO ?
What does this have to do with verifying CITIZENSHIP ? (and thus eligibility to vote) ?

Alabama identified 3,251 illegal aliens voting. Cross referenced by green card applications & voting registrations showing up as the same person. Simple as that.
But these are only people who applied for a green card. Many more didn't apply for that, fearing deportation. So these caught individuals are just the tip of the iceberg.

Alabama is a red state. With 3,251 illegals caught illegally voting (so far), imagine hiw many would be voting in states like California & New York, which have far more illegals than Alabama.

Think 3,251 is a number too low to make much difference ? In 2000, George Bush Won the election over Al Gore by 537 votes.

We already have voter ID at the polls with few exceptions.

The Save act is not a good act as written....it will disenfranchise married women whose name has changed since birth, stop voter registration initiatives to get new voters enrolled, cut back voting days, and cut back legitimate absentee voting, and disenfranchise students from voting who attend schools out of state etc etc etc....

It's a massive attack on voting rights.....especially for the working class, women, and students....a real ID driver's licence can't even be used as identification.....just a birth certificate and Passport are accepted...only the wealthy that travel overseas have passports....

What is to stop women from getting both a birth certificate and a marriage certificate ? Then both names are validated.

Again, legally they can register without showing proof of citizenship in AZ and vote federal only. Does that apply to all states? The order came from USSC in summer 2013.

I could go post it again but nearly 45K registered like this? Number voting increased from ~1000 in 2016 to over 30K in 2020?

Again an 11K difference in some swing shutdown states.
