Police in Texas said this week that the 16-year-old suspected of shooting three people at an El Paso mall was shot by a citizen who was legally carrying a firearm at the mall.

The suspect, a Hispanic male, is accused of killing 17-year-old Angeles Zaragoza and wounding two others, a 20-year-old Hispanic male and a 17-year-old Hispanic male. According to police, the alleged shooter was shot by 32-year-old Emmanuel Duran as he fled the scene.

Many legally armed citizens are carrying compact light weight handguns under their light Florida clothing that are concealable and accurate at close range but hard to shoot accurately at long range. If a shooter is 50 feet away from me and moving I may not want to risk a shot as I may hit an innocent person.

The shooter may be using a rifle with a 20 round or 30 round magazine while I have a handgun. Advantage shooter.

How do I know that I am not witnessing an undercover police officer or a person legally defending himself without observing for a minute?

I may have family members with me and if so, my first priority would be escort them to safety.
