Texas continues its march toward 3rd world status: Day 4 of no power

Sounds mucho hyperbolic to me. The only place in Texas that's "Third World" is the Southern Border as Biden's invasion continues.

All of Biden's refugees create slums, but Democrats won't sponsor any of them for some reason and alleviate their plights. They would rather try to blame Texans and Republicans for Democrat created disasters.

The OP is just another sniveling idiot. They can't get over losing their asses in the election.

LOL loon it was a Hurricane not just any old storm. last one that hit here in North Carolina we were out of power for 3 days.
Was it the first hurricane that ever hit Texas?

Does Texas have good codes? Everyone’s roofs are flying off and hitting power lines.

The roofs are being blown off by 75+ mph winds.

Wind will impede walking at around 40mph.

The National Weather Service's description of winds over 75mph:
"Severe and extensive damage. Roofs can be peeled off. Windows broken. Trees uprooted. RVs and small mobile homes overturned. Moving automobiles can be pushed off the roadways."

every hurricane is a new one and causes damage and knocks out power no matter what state it hits no matter how prepared they are. we had one hit here in the early 2000's and we were without power for a week and that was after they prepared by getting line crews from several states to help with repairs BEFORE the storm hit

Maybe, in the spirit of state's rights, each state should pay for its own disasters instead of looking for bailouts from the oppressive federal government. Would MAGA people be happy with that?

You need to experience a hurricane.

No, it was not the first hurricane. Don't be daft.
No, it was not the strongest hurricane to hit Texas.

But it destroyed homes, businesses, and infrastructure. It is not lax building codes. It is a force of nature that comes to visit.

And you guys learned nothing from it.

you are a moron every storm is different every Hurricane comes with a hell of a lot of wind destructive force wind and hell of a lot of rain if the wind doesnt get ya the flooding might. doesnt matter how prepared you are and doesnt matter how many resources you have if the destruction is bad enough it will take days to repair, and some areas are inaccessible because of flooding or the extent of the damage done.

You are just too crazy. But hey at least you do not mind showing how uninformed and ignorant you are

No shit numbnuts. You are 200 miles away.
You have no idea where I live in Texas .. north of Houston and East of Dallas, and we were hit hard with high winds (55-60mph+) and 6-7" of rain.

Do you care to attempt to determine how I was impacted again since you lost on round 1?

I work in the ekecteic utility industry. Texas has created its own problems, mostly because they do not want to be controlled by certain Federal regulations on the industry. Thus means they have no outside backup options from other regions.

They are additionally hampered by the fact that customers don’t want to pay the rates which would be required to do the level of upgrades (Underground utilities, metal poles, etc…) that would alleviate SOME (not all) of these issues.

I understand what you're saying, but I think we are past all descriptions of "once in a century" description of weather events, the old rules no longer apply, and these disruptions from severe weather events are no longer outliers, they've become commonplace, due to climate change.

I just noticed in 2024 that newscasts are finally admitting this obvious truth. That is a symptom of a much larger problem, but I digress.
Perhaps real infrastructure improvements over the climate scam programs would help alleviate some problems are reduce them a lot. I think putting much of the wires underground would help. However anywhere the wires are on poles, and they go down if they run into the underground wires power would still be lost even for the underground wires serving anyone if the electric substations have poles before going underground. And the substations of course would not have to be affected.

Lol. Every storm is different, huh. Which hurricanes don’t have strong winds, heavy rains and storm surge?

I’m not the one facing extended power outages in inhospitable weather.

That’s the geniuses down in Texas. Thank your state’s incompetent politicians.
