Hey stupid! This thread is about the failure of Texas to get its power grid winterized.

In other words, you have no answers why other states with far older and simpler problems have actually fared worse than Texas!

Americans are so stupid when it comes to infrastructure, it's amazing that you have anything working there.

^^^^^^All this from a person whose country a few years ago lost all power to half the people in the country throughout Ontario or Quebec.

Meanwhile, last I checked, Texas' power grid was separate from the TVA for reasons I'm not sure about but these are not easily fixed problems as plugging into the TVA would require extensive redesign of both systems.

Do you even know what the TVA is?

A once proud state is shambles and is a shell of its former self. The right wing nuts in Texas are virtue signaling themselves to death. Literally 111 people died in the winter storm because Texas wants to sell its soul to the right. But recently it’s been even worse. More infrastructure problems in electricity, healthcare nightmares, flood management problems and the list goes on. Instead of fixing problems the states leaders are in Cancun, or on TV or fighting fake culture wars. Anything but running the state of Texas.

If it isn't powered by petroleum, natural gas or coal, you damn sure ought to shut up about it, lest Trump find out and kill before coming online, but after vendors for equipment are paid, just like the huge wind project off the east coast, the week before Christmas, laying off thousands. Mind you, normal people are glad projects like the one you describe are going forward, but they had best go forward quietly, or trump will kill them after acquisition money is spent but before assembly and production can start. It is the new way of picking winners and losers in the Trump command economy, so keep it down.

The difference is, they kept the oil industry booming, while promoting new alternatives, instead of actively killing alternatives after the hard money had be paid to supplier, while offering $100 Billion to an established petroleum industry to go produce a an established product.
I quit coding 40 years ago, except for the occasional batch file, and don't even do that anymore. It has worked out pretty well.

I remember King of the Hill did an episode about a “snow emergency” in their Texas town when I was a kid in the 90s

It was like an inch of snow and all the characters were panicking and skidding off the road.

As someone that lived for 20 years in the Southern Tier of NY State dealing with 18 to 42 inches of snow per snow incident, I agree.
P.S. my driveway way 600 ft. from house to main road.
Here in N. Carolina a dusting of snow is a problem.
At the present time we're expecting a coastal snow storm that may dump up to 6 inches.
The grocery stores are stripped and people are hunkering down for a supposed disaster..
