With Iraq, it was a consensus after 9/11. There are many people worried about this becoming a quagmire. We are war sensitive. So, the administration has made reassurances and until proven differently, deserve the benefit of the doubt. This is supposedly a newer way in conflicts. And frankly, they have bent over backwards to not harm Iranian citizens up to now. I believe Iran can become wealthy. Comforts for the citizens. This region has become richer over the decades. The old ways for some though are too medieval.
