Shoot an F-15 out of the air. Set a super-heavy oil tanker on fire. Put a refinery out of action for a year.

I'm curious how they shot down an F-15. The oil tanker has a hole to repair, no biggie. A refinery is easy to repair, it won't take a year.

Iran's oil was sanctioned any way, it was not a major source of global oil, only about 4.44%

About 21% of the world's oil supply comes thru the Hormuz Strait.
I'm sure Trump will need to get it opened even if it means ground troops.

I don't tell just about Iran's oil. I tell about oil production in all Gulf states, especially in the states of American allies. Iran already started to hit their energy infrastructure.

That depends upon how many ground troops would join in from allies. Many Gulf states offered troops, the Kurds are eager, even Jordan offered troops. If any NATO countries kick in troops that would be enough to open Hormuz.

China wants Hormuz opened more than we do, their troops would fight to open Hormuz.
Russia has no troops to spare from Ukraine, just to die in Iran, like they did in Syria.
