overhaul, which has Block and the rest of the tax-preparation industry bracing for plenty of sour reactions now that tax filing season is about to start ahead of the April 15 deadline. They’re doing things such as extra customer education, employee training and even role-playing exercises to prepare for the financial mood swings ahead.

The bill represented the biggest change in the U.S. tax code since 1986, altering the tax situation for many of the 154 million people expected to file individual federal returns this year with the Internal Revenue Service.

The latest redo, among other things, lowered tax rates for many individual income levels and raised the standard deduction. But it also eliminated many deductions that people had itemized to lower their tax burden — such as union dues and the fees that tax preparers charge — and it placed caps on others, such as state and local income tax deductions.

The upshot: While some filers will owe less or get a larger-than-expected refund, many others will be in the opposite camp, especially if they did not adjust their W-4 form that determines how much of their weekly income is withheld for taxes."

It appears you were correct.

If you’re getting a sizable refund, it’s time to fire your tax “expert”.

There’s nothing dumber than giving the government an interest free loan all year long.

People are getting less taxes taken from their paychecks now, so yes, they should be getting a smaller refund. Additionally, as Mr Clean pointed out above, if you're getting a huge refund back that isn't from an EIC welfare handout, then you're not very bright. Why loan all that money to the government for free when you could be using for your necessities throughout the year?

Sure there is. Sitting on your ass cooperating and participating while a government does it to you.

And the onus must be on the individual because the society we inhabit is beyond reproach. Society is not the problem, the individual citizens of the society are the problem.

Nah, they live paycheck to paycheck because of our economic system. Revisit The Powell Memorandum.

Blaming Trump again eh ? If our government ever works for the working class anymore, it will be a miracle.

Show your ignorance by blaming Trump, when you know good and well how bad the Demon-crats have been in their resistance.

The salient point is that a lot more people will be paying LESS taxes this year, and if they get a smaller refund then they got bigger paychecks.

The re-rigging of this economic system is a half century on now, and utterly bipartisan.

Especially you high net worth folks, rest of ya's? Feel anything trickling down yet?

Yeah; that trickle down thing is actually a way for the GOP to transfer wealth UP to the 'already wealthy.'

When ever I feel anything tricking down I check to make sure there are no Republicans in my underwear.

Same as it ever was, but look, if you're suggesting that "other" party is anything other than # the assistance? Keep digging, my suggestion.

No fan of the DEMs here but they stay out of my underwear.
