Tariffs, how they actually work

Yeah, why is the child molester withholding them?

You're the moron drinking Trump's kool-aid Q-NUT.
You’ll have to ask Xiden why he did that, but doubt you’ll get a response that makes sense

Alrightly Jim Jones lackey…haha

Tariffs are a fee put on foreign products imported into the US for sale to Americans. Their purpose is to help american producers compete with cheap foreign goods. they do not increase the price of american goods sold in america. If you insist on buying Chinese goods you will pay a tariff. The way to avoid that is to buy american made products.

For example: Italy puts a 100% tariff on Harleys sold in Italy. Why? so Italians will buy Italian motorcycles. its simple and it works. It amazes me how the left is unable to understand this simple concept. Foreign countries have been putting tariffs on american goods for years. Trump is merely doing the same thing to them.

If you hate tariffs, the fix is simple: Buy American.
Yet so many "Made in America" goods are chock full of imported materials/components

You’ll have to ask Xiden why he did that, but doubt you’ll get a response that makes sense
Don't have to Q-NUT..................Why didn't Trump or his cult ask Biden?

Your dear leader was asked.......Makes perfect sense too, to his cult.

It is someone else's fault.

Alrightly Jim Jones lackey…haha

The same as Obama saying he wouldn't start new wars.
How many lies do you think Obama told, and how do you think they reflected on his credibility?

Compared with Chump's lies and their effect on his credibility?

Wrong, and spin.

Tariffs, whatever they are, are paid by the importing company at the port of entry.

That's it. Period. Any other answer is a lie. Or ignorance. Or both.
Trump could tell his cult, that pigs fly and they would believe him.

My reply was how both parties fall in line with the lies and neither side has any room to condemn the other side.
Looking in from outside, that is absurd. Chump's lies alone could carry his entire party's contribution.

How many lies do you think Obama told, and how do you think they reflected on his credibility?

A ton of them and they made his presidency mostly a waste of time.

Compared with Chump's lies and their effect on his credibility?

Neither are in any way shape or form defendable.

Americans will buy more American products. BTW, why doesn't say....Japan buy American cars? There are high tariffs on American products in many countries as well. Why don't they drop the tariffs on American products? Tariffs help American manufacturers. Why do you accept high tariffs on American goods?
Because American manufacturers are too ******* dumb to make models suitable for Japan.

What do you do for a living? Not business I assume.

I can order a steel shelf unit from China for $89 cost including a 10% tariff. If the tariff goes up to 25% the steel shelf costs $109. If it goes up to 50% it will cost $129.

The same shelf costs $220 to make in the US.

How is the price of goods not being increased?
what you missed is that the shelf was always $220 from the US supplier. The tariff in this case just makes the price difference smaller. So, buy the Chinese junk if you feel justified, no one cares what you buy.

A ton of them and they made his presidency mostly a waste of time.

Neither are in any way shape or form defendable.
So they're both the same?

Ludicrous. Your bothsidesism is merely a fig leaf for your reluctance to criticise MAGA extremism in government.

Yet so many "Made in America" goods are chock full of imported materials/components
would it not be better for America is they were chock full of american materials/components? That is the whole point, my ignorant little friend.

Looking in from outside, that is absurd. Chump's lies alone could carry his entire party's contribution.

1. He promised Hispanics that he would address their issues right from the start. He did nothing and Hispanics in numbers abandoned the Democrats.

2 He promised no lobbyists in his white house. Day one he brought on lobbyists.

3 he promised to prosecute the bankers. Instead he filled their coffers with billions.

4 He promised to end the wars and not start new ones. He didn't end squat and started new ones.

5. He sent Clapper out to lie to the country under oath about his unconstitutional spying programs.

How many do you want? Trump is a direct response to Obama's lies.

I supported 90% of what Candidate Obama ran on. I supported 10% of what President Obama actually did. I should support that?

This is a rather simplistic view you have, and has not been born out by reality.

". . . Suppose we tax imports of French and Italian wine. As a result, demand for California wine rises, and producers in Napa and Sonoma expand production to meet it. Here’s the key point: expanding production without increasing costs is difficult, especially so for any big expansion in normal times.

To produce more, wine producers in Napa and Sonoma need more land. But the most productive, cost-effective land is already in use. Expansion forces producers onto less suitable land—land that’s either less productive for wine or more valuable for other purposes. Wine production competes with the production of olive oil, dairy and artisanal cheeses, heirloom vegetables, livestock, housing, tourism, and even geothermal energy (in Sonoma). Thus, as wine production expands, costs increase because opportunity costs increase. As wine production expands, the price we pay is less production of other goods and services.

Thus, the fundamental reason domestic prices rise with tariffs is that expanding production must displace other high-value uses. The higher money cost reflects the opportunity cost—the value of the goods society forgoes, like olive oil and cheese, to produce more wine.

And the fundamental reason why trade is beneficial is that foreign producers are willing to send us wine in exchange for fewer resources than we would need to produce the wine ourselves. Put differently, we have two options: produce more wine domestically by diverting resources from olive oil and cheese, or produce more olive oil and cheese and trade some of it for foreign wine. The latter makes us wealthier when foreign producers have lower costs. . . "
an oversimplification for sure, but why is it not better for America if the expansion money is spent here in America? and yes, we should work all the angles to make sure we benefit more than the rest of the world. In case you don't understand, the rest of the world does not give a shit if the USA is financially sound, they are only interested in their own financial success, as should we be.

How about answering my questions first?
Foreign countries dont make any money. American companies source stuff for the lowest cost they can and pass that savings into the market.
  • Ralph Laruen makes a polo in China for $16. The factory profits $2.
  • Its shipped to the US for $2 and the freight company profits 50 cents
  • The shirt has a tariff for $2 and the US profits $2.
  • Ralph Lauren sells the shirt to Macy's for $40 and profits $20
  • Macy's sells the $99 ticketed shirt to Me for $80 on sale and profits $40

So to recap:
  • The Chinese factory made $2
  • The international freight company make 50 cents
  • Ralph Lauren made $20
  • Macy's made $40
So what exactly is the problem here?????????????????????????

Y'know, what amazes me is that he's still saying that other countries pay the tariff.

And I ask for the thousandth time: How are these people not INSULTED? Do they have NO self respect?
NO.
Then again neither does their dear leader.

I think they are just going by "Trust the plan", project 2025, by the deep state heritage foundation.

Nothing else makes sense.

Many items can not be bought that is made in America. If you are going to buy a television you are going to pay the tariff increase.

People have a difficult time making ends meet. In some cases you can spend more for American made but you are still paying more.

Trump said he would bring down prices.
prices are down, inflation is down. Trump's economic policies are working, but I guess you prefer 9% inflation that we had under senile ole joe.

there is no problem, if you don't like the layers of profit don't buy the polo shirt.'
