Why should retailers continue to subject themselves to egregious theft and no support from the cities they serve? What are the community organizers going to do about it?

the lowes inc ceo talked yesterday at goldman sachs about this problem, which he does not seem to have. a key solution is to have sufficient "associates" in the aisles, well paid and motivated to stop theft and whose jobs are too good to risk for the short term gain of employee theft.

Most of these places fire associates for trying to interfere with robberies. They hire additional security instead, but in Blue locales even they are limited by law on what they can do.

The funniest part is they are often pulling out of poor minority areas and the left attack the businesses for wanting out of these areas due to rampant out of control theft and violence. The left believe businesses should provide service to low income areas, no matter how many losses they suffer and no matter how unsafe they are.

Imagine being an economic development representative for one of these cities that is losing retailers daily because of high theft. Your job is to attract retailers to come into the city and “invest in the community.” What once was a powerful “white guilt” card that could be played is now useless. Green is the most powerful color.

Those retailers are beginning to understand what "invest" really means and it doesn't mean getting a return on your investment.
