The only reason this continues is due to all the excess resources the United States has. It is reducing. And more than that we have extended ghettos into economic producing areas around them for political reasons.

the lowes inc ceo talked yesterday at goldman sachs about this problem, which he does not seem to have. a key solution is to have sufficient "associates" in the aisles, well paid and motivated to stop theft and whose jobs are too good to risk for the short term gain of employee theft.

I am not sure about the "stop theft" part. I was checking out the other day at the local Lowes where someone had went out with a cart full of tools without paying for them through the garden department. Two people were talking about it. The cashier said she would get fired if she even put her hand on their cart to try to stop them. Lowe's stalks you down and prosecutes you if you steal from them. They have an aggressive surveillance system and will pull your footage from the time you came onto their property to the time you left it and give it to the police to find you. The volume of customers and employees do help. You are seldom on an aisle alone at Lowes as opposed to home depot.

I think Chicago is showing us one part of why this is happening…..the communist mayor of Chicago is now talking about government owned food stores ……… the best way to make that happen is to drive out the private chains.

How many Lowes stores are in Urban areas where looting and flash mobs are an issue? Most Lowes are in suburban and rural areas Also, what are people more likely to steal…. Clothing and jewelry or a hand saw?

The funniest part is they are often pulling out of poor minority areas and the left attack the businesses for wanting out of these areas due to rampant out of control theft and violence. The left believe businesses should provide service to low income areas, no matter how many losses they suffer and no matter how unsafe they are.

Some have even said that it is not that big a deal because “that’s what insurance is for”. Do these people have any idea that insurance premiums will go up in addition to good customers staying away to avoid violence? The “racist” retort from them is weak and pathetic.
