NYC Tax on Second Homes Targets 13,000 Properties, Hochul Says

If you can afford a $5 million apartment/townhouse in NYC as a second home you can afford to pay more in taxes on it.

Exactly!

Tax it at 100%.

Tax the rich days always sey.

I propose an annual national tax on homes over $4.99 million at 5% to apply to debt until debt is gone!!!

Mamdani claims this tax will raise $500 million.

NO IT WILL NOT.

ALSO, Mamdani spends alot on advertising on all kinds of media.

WHY?

Spend that SELF BACK PATTING ADVERTISING MONEY on REAL STUFF.

JUST AMAZING.

(Bloomberg) -- New York Governor Kathy Hochul is proposing a new tax on second homes in New York City worth at least $5 million as a way to raise cash for the city’s struggling budget.

“This is a targeted surcharge on second homes and investor owned apartments worth over $5 million, homes that in many cases sit vacant for a large part of the year,” Hochul said on Wednesday at a press conference in midtown Manhattan. She referenced a nearby home worth over $100 million that she says has never been occupied. “They’re part of our skyline, but those people are not part of our city.”

It just amazes me that they never stop and think that maybe they are just spending too much money.

Then again it's is not like they are spending their money....Oh well, theft comes naturally to them.
Another communist Democrat.
They keep denying they're communists ... and then prove they are.

Mamdani is using TAXPAYER MONEY ON ADVERTISING TO TELL YOU HOW HE IS SPENDING TAXPAYER MONEY. 😂

In those advertisements, he should disclose exactly how much that ad is costing the taxpayers.

It basically charges higher real estate taxes for non residents

Say you live in Mara Lago and have an unoccupied residence in Trump Tower, you pay more

So ... communist confiscation then?

The rat in the woodpile (with apologies to the rats) is always the Federal Reserve. They have indebted the nation clear down to the paperboy.

Hell, just confiscate it. Let the homeless live there. :)

How many of those properties belong to shell companies that operate outside the US? Does she really think that they're all going to pay this new tax?

I would think that a lot of Wall Street companies would keep a residence in NYC for their use.
They will. Some will just chalk it up to another expense for doing business in NYC. Some may downgrade to a property or multiple properties that allows it to avoid the proposed new tax.

The big takeaway is the fact that NYC has been mismanaged for decades. The problem with NYC and others like it is they don't have the right tools (laws) in their toolbox to solve their problems.

So ... communist confiscation then?

Not happy about it? Move back, make it your residence, and make your current residence your second home. But they don't want to do that. The whole reason they have an expensive second home in NYC is to avoid NY taxes.

Mayor Mamdani is not letting them get away with their tax avoidance schemes any longer.

There's a new sheriff in town, and he prays 5 tines a day. When he isn't kicking ass.

You're a hick you wouldn't understand why somebody would want to keep a place in NYC..
No excuse to Rob them... You dopey broad

They Never Tire of spending other peoples money.

Until they run out of people to STEAL FROM
After NY chases away the wealth, they just double down on parasite sucking the poor and working class dry. It's already happened all across the state. Now they have their mooching parasite sucking vampire fangs sunk into NYC.

Yeah, the first question that popped into my mind is why are they having budget issues, but you obviously answered that question. I guess the solution is to also chase away more people paying taxes. That'll solve the problem. Dumb flucks.

They took VA. They are trying to make it "nowhere to run".

Again, the West coast, NE coast and Lake states all lost "forever" without decisive change. Flooding out Mail ballots for voting does not help.
