Earlier today she asked me about my thoughts concerning Trump’s decision to remove secret service protection from Fauci and others. (Clearly, she thought his move was petty, dangerous and ill-advised.)

By contrast, I was surprised that Fauci even had been receiving protection from our secret service. I can’t really understand how he had ever merited that expensive protection. ($15 million/year??!?)

Fauci has more money than God.

He can pay for his own private security without dipping into our pockets.

There is a genuine gap in the understandings of liberals and conservatives. And familial membership doesn’t bridge that gap.

I'm in your same boat. I'm a moderate conservative and my wife is a moderate liberal. She sees the light on some issues but not most, and I can sometimes make her see the light myself, sometimes.

Just the other day we were watching the ABC news and it talked about the violent insurrection where people died and she didn't think these people should be pardoned who were responsible for the deaths. I told her that no one died and she told me that, yes, people died, and I again told her that no one died. Then, I corrected myself and explained to her how, yes, there were two or three protesters who died of heart attacks at the event, one peaceful protester who was unarmed and not threat to anyone was shot and killed by the police, and that one policeman died a couple of days later and that Biden's DOJ had tried to railroad that into murder charges and were unable to do that. She immediately got on her phone to look it up and then stayed silent afterwards.
