Taiwan built high-speed rail, why can’t California?
Here is a pretty good reason. A High Speed Rail can only be built if it's put on a National Level. And then Nationally funded. That means that it has to be done at a Federal Level. It's expensive and intensive. ALL the successful high speed rails are Nationally supported and always will be. Or at least until they get the point of reach self sufficiency. Until the Feds pony up with a whole bunch of billions of bucks on a yearly basis, there just won't be a high speed rail.
Actually, California got MASSIVE federal subsidies for their high speed rail debacle. They weren't underfunded at all. California,
btw, has a lot larger economy than the Republic of China.
