It seems Turkey decided to play its card. Something tells me that after a while there will be 'additional' Syrian state in the northern part and Aleppo will be its capital.

Turkey backed and Kurdish backed rebels....including ISIS and Taliban members are all there. Hezbollah and Hamas are involved as well. (They are like a foot fungus....everywhere and annoying)

IDF only appears at their borders....

It's a free-for-all with this vacuum of power. It will be interesting to see if Russia tries to aide Assad at all with carpet bombs or something.

Syrian rebels, backed by Turkey, are currently taking Aleppo (2nd largest city).

Russian troops have fallen and are consolidating somewhere....maybe at the Naval Base or Damascus.....dunno.

Syrian troops are switching sides or running away in droves.

Assad was in Russia yesterday meeting with Putin. Dunno where he is today.

But Russia is losing not only more troops but also a Naval Base.

Yeah, when your main backer is stuck in a war they can't win, won't back you because they don't have any spare troops, have to get troops for hire from Yemen of all places and North Korea.... Uh oh, Assad the evil is going to get what comes to him.

The time will show. I don't think that Erdogan's goal is to topple Assad. He is interested in northern Syria, where predominantly Kurdish regions are located. He wants them under Turkish control to eliminate a possible threat that Kurdish military units may pose to Turkey proper.

Erdogan never could be trusted he has always had eyes on Aleppo, when the terrorists took over in 2012 they just walked of the Turkish border, the Turks looted and stripped the industrial area transporting whole factories over the border, he seems to want Syria turned into a extreme Islamist hell hole even though he doesn't live in one,what i don't get about this latest incident is why after they liberated the City in 2016 the Syrians didn't start constructing massive defences west of the City with mine fields etc.

Yes the IDF just provide medical help for wounded Islamist terrorists before sending them back to cause more carnage.

Of course Turkey used this time to supply and train their proxy groups in the country. The SAA lost its effectiveness long ago. Shia military units supplied and led by Iran were the main battle force in a pro-Assad coalition. As the reports emerge, the Assad army just leaves their positions without a fight.
