Supreme Court rules mail-in ballots arriving after Election Day can be counted

Then they should show some personal responsibility and get their ballot in on time.

I know personal responsibility is like high noon to a vampire for some people these days.

Have you seen the US postal standard for first class letters lately?

It can take 3 days or more just to get delivered across town.
A week to go across the country.
There is no longer any universally guaranteed overnight delivery.

Yes, the U.S. Postal Service (USPS) still offers overnight delivery through its Priority Mail Express service.
While it is the standard overnight option, the exact delivery speed can vary. The delivery time is typically next-day (by 12:00 p.m. or 3:00 p.m.) for most U.S. addresses, though select locations may default to 2-day delivery depending on the zip code pair

Odd, I never had any trouble when I would mail in an absentee (for cause) ballot....How about ceasing to reinforce poor personal responsibility habits.

And every single legal vote not counted because of arbitrary time or postmark disqualification, nullifies a legal voter.

Where are these legal voters not being able to vote?

Screw that. Forty Seven states have early voting. Even the freakshow that is New York has early voting.

Early voting is fraud waiting to happen.

24 hours, show up unless you have a great reason not to, then you get an absentee ballot that has to be postmarked by election day.

Wait..... it's not that they're mailed in, but how they are requested that matters?

It's flooding the country with mailed ballots that we can't even be sure were filled out by the person they were mailed to.

I'm sorry you disagree with 47 out of 50 legislatures. Too bad.

Go ahead.

But as it stands now those against mail-in ballots being cast by Election Day, turned over to an agency of the United States government, and delivered shortly after Election Day is now in Congress’s realm.

Just remember that means the amended SAVE Act would h have to go back to both chambers of Congress.

WW

Fine by me.

Perfect timing leading up to the elections.

Thanks to Stable Genius's lackey, you can't rely on postmark unless the person takes it to the counter as now those aren't applied until they go through the regional distribution center (if at all) which can be many days after you dropped it in the blue box.
And the post office no longer cancels every letter.
They only do it for "revenue protection"
So business reply mail (like ballots) are not routinely postmarked.

And requesting "hand stamp cancellation" at the window is an iffy proposal.

Variable Enforcement: While you are entitled to request this, real-world experiences can vary. Some branches or individual clerks may be reluctant, tell you they don't do it, or suggest you leave the mail for another day

You never had a problem, until you DO have a problem.
When the ballot doesn't receive a postmark, because the post office no longer universally cancels all letters, or cancels them on the date you drop them off at the post office.

Post office official statement:

47 out of 50 states is not 'some.' Sorry, the people have spoken in forty seven different states.

Appeal to the masses.

So since most white people in the South wanted Jim Crow, it should have been allowed to stand?

One logical fallacy after another with you.

SCOTUS has ruled that Mississippi’s state law permitting counting mail in ballots arriving after election day controls the election process there. SCOTUS found the state law is not pre-empted by current Federal laws.

Supreme Court rules mail-in ballots arriving after Election Day can be counted

A decision against such ballots could have upended election procedures in states across the country ahead of the midterm elections.

The Supreme Court on Monday upheld a Mississippi law that allows officials to tally mail-in ballots postmarked by Election Day that arrive later, a decision that keeps voting procedures in place in several states as the midterm elections loom. In an 5-4 ruling, the justices turned aside a challenge by Republicans and Libertarians, who argued federal law preempts a Mississippi statute that allows the counting of such ballots that arrive up to five days after polls close.

The decision could make less likely similar legal challenges in 14 states that allow the counting of ballots that arrive days or weeks after polls close. Most states require mail-in ballots to be received by Election Day.

President Donald Trump and some Republican allies have falsely argued that voter fraud is rampant in mail-in balloting. Trump partly blamed his loss in the 2020 presidential election on mail-in votes and unsuccessfully called on states to stop tallying them during the contest.

Republicans in a number of states have launched legal challenges to mail-in voting, which has grown in popularity since the onset of the coronavirus pandemic. One study found about 1 in 3 voters voted by mail in 2024, but the practice is more widespread in Democratic-leaning states.
The fastest way to flip this on its ear would be to have several massive batches of Republican ballots all marked for POTUS only to show up on the last day. The democrats would be running in the streets screaming about election fraud and demanding they not be counted.

One recalls Algore's attempt to disqualify military mail-in ballots that was slapped down.

More MAGA WINNING = A Loss in reality.

The Supreme Court on Monday upheld a Mississippi law

We find out Jean Carrol wins and Mississippi voters do too. Are we leaving out a few things here?

There is a difference between the majority wanting to take rights away, and the majority wanting to make voting more condusive.
