Support for Capitalism at a new low

I think its because they dont really want to. Sure, it sounds good to the people, and helps them get votes, but at the end of they day, they love those donors and would never do anything to anger them.
TRUMP! used that to body slam Hillary in one of their debates. She was ragging on him for using the tax code to his advantage and he adroitly pointed out that her big donors did the same thing he did.

America has two entrenched parties that will never allow it. Proportional representation would make it easy for one or more independent parties to enter and gain power in the government. Take Switzerland for example, with a population of just 9 million.. They have a form of proportional representation but they also have more than 20 political parties and power is decentralized into 26 very independent cantons. It's no wonder Switzerland has the highest degree of democracy, and one of the highest standards of living on the planet. Imagine that, 20 parties for just 9 million people. America should have well over a 100 parties, but only has two. Why is that?
"Wise Stewards" Fantasy

It is impossible to have a party in an election booth. We, the people, are excluded under the elitist scheme of "representation." Partycrashers are kept out by tight security.

It is suspicious that you don't mention Switzerland's many national referendums.

Well, this is absolutely no surprise. Support for Capitalism -- by far the most dynamic engine of growth, prosperity and freedom -- is shrinking.

This is what happens when ANY system is perverted and misapplied. In the case of Capitalism, misapplication will INVARIABLY end up creating massive wealth disparity and dead ends for the lower classes.

Many who claim to be Capitalists, for example, have been convinced that any government involvement in the economy, such as regulation, is the bane of capitalism. The reality is that proper and efficient regulation is a CRITICAL COMPONENT of Capitalism.

The Meltdown of 2008 -- from which we are STILL experiencing the effects -- was a prime example. First Clinton repealed Glass Steagall and opened the doors to the derivatives that damn near killed us. Then Alan Greenspan publicly refused to regulate those same derivatives that damn near killed us.

And now it looks like we're going down the same ******* road. Is it any wonder that Americans are so disgusted with this version of Capitalism that a shitty system like Socialism is actually attractive to them?

Image of Capitalism Slips to 54% in U.S. -- Perceptions of socialism remain steady at 39% positive

Now now Ole Mac is supposedly an economist... that evidently doesn't realize Socialism has never in history worked.

Well unless he fancies himself a Socialist leader that would benefit from the backs of the working people

Freedom (and Capitalism) is messy, chaotic, dangerous and requires adult maturity to maintain. It's also preferable to the alternative.
Both Led by HeirHeads, Whose Daddies Told Them They Were "Born to Rule"

You're begging the question by calling Socialism "the" alternative. Learn the usage of an and any.

Which, by the way, the hired writers don't know, because "one another" can only apply to more than two. These Eweniversity gradchewits think it means exactly the same as "each other." They switch back and forth between the two, regardless of context.

No, I said it's preferable to the alternative, which can be anything. I don't know of a system that is preferable.

Very possible. Such is our screwed up political "system". Money warps priorities.

Yeah, so democrats also dont appear to be the solution to this issue. Guess were kinda stuck.

Heh..."adroitly" there's a word I haven't heard in awhile...good job! 😆

You diverted from the discussion. Can you live without the democratic party controlling everything in every citizen's life and letting 10 other parties compete with the democratic party, that wants to run the country for the benefit of the establishment and its benefactors? Happy? Can you respond without trashing Trump?
That's what happens when you start inserting childish things.

The thread is about capitalism, not about whether anyone can live without the Democratic Party.

I don't support the Democrats or the Republicans.

Got it. You're just here to bash Trump and troll anyone who agrees with anything Trump does. I already knew.

I do find it of interest that Socialist always want to take over the US as it is right now, AFTER Capitalism has built a strong economy. They apparently believe human nature has been cancelled and people will continue to produce at high levels when we remove the profit motive from them.
I think China's attempt at socialism and it's return to capitalism to save the country from ruins backs up your point. And your quote about socialism is for the people not the socialist (leadership) is perfect, because in socialism there is an even wider income inequality between the elite and the people. Why is it that in socialist countries throughout the world, especially the south, the people live in poverty and the leadership lives in palaces? Moreover, the old school democrats in the US denounced socialism as a failure because they saw what was happening in China, Russia and many other socialist countries in the 70's and 80's. But these neo-leftist democraps are too young to remember billions living in abject poverty because of Marxist ideas. I'll admit, today's version of crony capitalism sucks, but it is still 100X better than socialism. Anyone who doesn't agree should go try and live in Cuba or Venezuela. They'll be back in weeks, sporting a red MAGA hat and waving an American flag.

And in other news, Gen Z protestors just overthrew the communist government in Nepal.

Now now Ole Mac is supposedly an economist...
23+ year CFP/Financial Advisor, ChFC/CLU, 7/63/65, author, writer, speaker, consultant. Sold in 2022 and now retired and an angel investor with my nose still in it 24/7/365. Whereas you're just another Dunning-Kruger Trumpster.

This is where you say "no you're not! You're lying!"

... that evidently doesn't realize Socialism has never in history worked.
^^^ So when I say in the OP that capitalism is "by far the most dynamic engine of growth, prosperity and freedom" and that socialism is "a shitty system", the Trumpsters PERCEIVE me as being anti-capitalist and pro-socialist.

It's the alternate universe. Just another example of why trying to communicate with them here is pointless.

Let me guess, in Nepal the people are dirt poor and the elite communists live lavish lifestyles. It's exactly what the neo-leftists want for America.

Apparently the government banned social media outlets such as Facebook, X and YouTube and the kids went absolutely ballistic.

Communists/Socialists and their strong need to regulate or ban free speech.
