Sleeper is fantastic. Bananas is funny. Take the Money and Run is hilarious. Everything You Always Wanted To Know About Sex has a lot of really good, funny material. Hannah and Her Sisters is a great movie. Annie Hall still holds up very well. Woody has an awesome career.

That move was way ahead of its.time. Take the politics out of it, the cut scenes and camera tricks in narration were beyond what a black and white movie should prodice. It even appears HD.

The Piano
It seemed that all the critics were falling over one another tryin to see who could heap more praise on it than the others. So the way all the critics were gushing over it, it had to be a good movie, right?

It was crap.

American Beauty
A less spectacular version of The Piano. Critics were driven to praise it, but not to the same extreme that they did The Piano. It, too, turned out to be crap, though not as bad as The Piano.

I've come to think that movie critics, as a whole, are prone to a sort of an Emperor's New Clothes effect, where when one critic gives a review that is very far off, the other critics feel compelled to play along, and even embellish on the first reviews, lest they somehow be deemed unfit for their posts or unpardonably stupid, for going against the other critics.

Rocky Horror Picture Show.
What a piece of crap.

The Rocky Horror Picture Show has to be judged differently than other movies.

To properly understand and appreciate it, you have to have gone to a theatre, and participated in some of the odd rituals that fans of the movie have established.

If you've never done that, if you've only ever watched it at home, then there's no way you're going to get it.

Recently, I got the DVD's of 2001 and 2010. One of them was a “double-feature set, that included the movie I wanted and also included A Clockwork Orange. So, I watched A Clockwork Orange. I wasn't at all impressed by it.

I'm not sure what the political aspect of the film was....but if this won the Oscar, it must have been a really shitty year for movies.
Pedophilia and suicide isn't my cup of tea, unlike Hollywood.
