We all have roles to play and responsibilities in life. For parents, it is to take care of children, for children, it is to do something productive, learn, grow and educate themselves.

If they want to shirk their responsibilities, then I shall shirk mine.

Very few around here understand of the meaning that you ascribe to them you mean.

Yes, you are probably right. Very few folks around here have the inclination to put you on the couch and shrink your head Tommy.


And no, I am not, inherently competitive.

Instead, I have instilled in my child the innate desire to compete. I have shown him how the rich live, and I have shown them how the other half live. There is no shame in being poor, nor is being wealthy a great crime either. The choice is his, I only offer reason, logic and a rational way to make what ever dream he has come true. From there on out, the choice is his.

As a poor oppressed sod of an ancient class based society, you just don't understand the heart of American culture, or how America works. Our society isn't bound by the rules you would read about in a PG Wodehouse novel, it is more like a Horatio Alger story.

There is definitely a cultural divide between our world views keeping us from communicating effectively. IOW, I don't think you understand American culture.

However, there is almost always homework from the Saturday school to do.
