Students are being trained by union teachers to say ‘F--- ICE.’

Mississippi's schools test scores soared after reinstituting phonics. And yes, I very much would use standard old school multiplication process. Results are what matters.
So when a student raises their hand and offers this solution (below) are you thinking this is an awesome example of thinking outside the box or are you thinking, just do it the traditional way.

Student Response.
Since 100 x 100 =10,000
Then 96 x 104 would be 16 less than 10,000.
I can subtract 16 from 10,000 faster than using traditional math.
The answer of 9,984 is 16 less because each number is 4 away from 100.
Since I know binomial expansion of conjugates, I can apply this rule.
Therefore 95 x 105 is 25 less than 10,000 or
95 x 105=9,975

I see where pknopp laughed at this post. Punk.
What's funny about it?
It's disgusting and infuriating.
The school system needs to be burned down. Destroyed. And rebuilt sans unions and communist influence.
He laughs because he is completely uneducated.

Sure I would accept it. Will he remember the process in 20 years? How often in real life do we face a math problem like this?

Common Core is viewed as an absolute failure. It basically dumbed down students.

Part of the problem with Common Core in some areas had more to do with implementation than the curriculum or standards.
Of course, you cannot tell that to people either in the schools or classrooms who don't know what they are doing, or parents that also don't understand the practices.

You may remember No Child Left Behind from 2001, and how it was viewed as a failure, as well as hated by teachers.
It suffered from very poor implementation, combined with the desire to actually escape the intended results, by the teachers, administrators and school systems.

During implementation, they didn't properly explain the idea that the schools and everyone involved were going to fail until the program identified and had cleaned out or addressed the failures.

The same type programs work in the private sector, because in the private sector program initiatives can actually be enforced.
The object is to improve the product or service, and not to make everyone who is working happy or help them pretend they are doing a good job when they cannot meet the standards.

Do 47 x 164

Thinking outside of the box is awesome, until they spend more time thinking outside the box than they do inside of any box and that leads to better teamwork and productivity.

I would accept the answer and then tell them to do it the standard way to make sure they understood that.

So the solution is to let them do what they want to?
What would you do? Make them fail so they drop out? What does that accomplish?

Schools in Florida where I taught graduated about 87% of their students on time after 12 years. When I moved to Kentucky, my high school with the DoD graduated 100% on time because military dependents schools have many more options to deal with unruly and failing students. My local Kentucky schools had graduation rates in the 90% range and usually increased slightly over the years. I had one rural school where we graduated 97%.

There should be no isolated incidents and those teachers and administrators should be fired. Funny how you will dismiss wrongdoing by democrats.
Thanks for agreeing that this thread is based on an isolated incident and not a widespread phenomenon.

Everything government touches fails, mix in left loons? A disaster
And people still look to government to solve their problems.
