Stop the wet dreams lefty.....de-funding of the Police departments ain't never gonna happen

Towns and cities have shut down police departments in the past. Usually for economic reasons. However it has been done. More than once. And not just to small one horse towns.

Camden NJ disbanded their police department. They created a larger more community oriented force and retrained the officers and the entire county was involved.

The result has been a sharp decrease in crime. They stopped judging cops on tickets and arrests. They wanted the cops walking around talking to people. Getting the people to know them and they would know the people.

Camden showed it can work. It merely requires a different perspective on the part of the leaders and cops. Focus on being a part of the community and focus on serving and being a guardian.

A reduction of the boots or knees on necks and a reduction in crime.

That isn't "defunding" the police. They moved the local police force from city supervision to county supervision.

They removed the existing police union, and made everyone apply to get their job back.

It's all just political posturing....you cannot de-fund them because no city is an enclave to itself. All municipalities are complex businesses that take orders from Banks, Insurance companies and Ultimately from the Governor of the state. You cannot have an UN-INSURED municipality adjacent to all of its bordering municipalities who are INSURED.....the Insurance companies are not stupid...they realize that a city line is meaningless to criminals.

Should a municipality decide to try they would very quickly be in a court room trying to explain to a state or federal judge why they have suddenly become a Robbers Den and a Rodent collection center dangerous to all of their neighboring municipalities and one of the ultimate consequences could be the redraw of city lines. The insurance companies who control public policy in those areas would simply cancel all coverage....the State Government would be Obliged to do something up to and including assign state troopers to the area which would then be billed to the municipality....so the de-funding actually never happens it gets dispersed in a different way. Yeah that's right its a meaningless joke that can never actually take place...it only happens in word play and political posturing its not something that can actually be done.

DEFUND THE POLICE DEPARTMENTS.......LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL.......it is to die laughing for....at first I took it seriously until I just took a deep breath and did some thinking about it......yeah....it's pretty funny.

Sorry but you never seem to know what youre talking about.

Read the article dumbass I have already answered this article above......the Police department is still there it is not disbanded.....In fact it is larger with more officers than it had before....still has a police union and an IA department. You fall prey to sensational headlines that have no meaning to them.
The answer is more police funding not less as the article proves.

Nope. You need to learn how to read. The PD was disbanded and new better one was built in its place. The focus is on community service. It doesnt employ the same racist cops.

Most of the cops were rehired.

Homicides up from 22 to 25.

Yeah...of course....the article's title and the bulk of the article are a pile of horseshit. Many police departments around the country are simply retraining their officers to be more community sensitive and that's a good trend. To suggest that you are disbanding the department is idiotic. That would leave a fatal vacuum even if it was just for a week. So maybe the city likes to run around saying they disbanded their police department because it makes them feel powerful....but the truth is it has simply been reorganized with more officers in the mix and most likely a larger operations budget..
The pay back comes with a decrease in home field errors that had become a regular part of police work. Once again: YOU CANNOT HAVE AN ENFORCEMENT VACUUM IN A MUNICIPALITY BECAUSE THEY WOULD BE QUICKLY PUT OUT OF BUSINESS BY THE BANKS, INSURANCE COMPANIES AND THE STATE COURT SYSTEM UP TO AND INCLUDING A COMPLETE REDRAW OF THE STATE MAP UNTIL ALL AREAS WERE COVERED BY A STANDING PUBLIC ENFORCEMENT AGENCY. The idea of simply removing enforcement is ludicrous in the extreme and is fodder for fools.

Most of the cops were rehired.

Of course they were.....the only thing missing was the former city charter replaced by a new charter. Under union negotiating rules the only way you can accomplish this kind of reorganization is a formal termination accompanied by an immediate rehire ..... this loser is a John Lennon style " Imagine " dreamer with not a single relevant idea about what he is talking about. The firing and rehiring is a common procedural business angle that allows a new contract to be negotiated. I notice the article leaves that part out but not everyone ignored it....read below.

Everyone's now allowed to protest

The Camden County police force was created with little public input, using political muscle and a process some called union-busting. And though many residents now agree the department has reduced crime and improved relationships with the community, mistrust lingers, and despite efforts to diversify, the force remains whiter than the largely nonwhite city it serves.”

So they had a few rule changes and a management shakeup that required a politically dangerous tactic but they managed to survive without an interruption of professional police officers on the street.

This is the same issue you are going to see with NYC trying to close Rikers. The issue isn't the facility, the issue is the staffing. The Dept of Corrections is one of the most corrupt and sleazy law enforcement agencies in the city, because no one in their right mind wants that job, and so you get people not in their right mind.

They could fix Rikers by firing all the DoC staff and management and starting over, but in NYC there is no way to do that to a uniformed public sector union. So they blame the facilities.
